European Tour - Forest Fires & the Hunt for LPG begins..
This is the third leg of our European Tour in our newly converted Mercedes Sprinter Camper Van. We travel from the Le Bassin in France down to the French / Spanish border where we do a quick overnight stop at Col D'lbardin 350m up in the Pyrenees
From the border, we drove down into mainland Spain across the country heading to Northern Portugal, our first stop was further up into the mountains at a small town called Aguilar de Campoo where they had an amazing observation deck overlooking the reservoir dam and the town below. Some breathtaking views of the snow capped mountains and a beautiful parking spot
Unfortunately, the Monastery was closed when we were there but it does look like an impressive building from the outside, the steep walk up to the castle is for the fitter ones.
As we drove to our next campsite just west of Gijon we drove past lots of forest fires up in the mountains and as we drove past there was a rescue helicopter picking up water from a nearby river and flying off to try and put the fires out. The pilot showed some amazing flying skills.
We didn't like the town centre Aires they were either too noisy or just like a city centre car park, no views and just made us feel a bit uncomfortable compared to previous camps.
So we ventured up onto the north coast to a small viewing spot and little car park down a single track road on the rugged north shore, it was a pretty location with great views.

From there we headed back up into the mountains, now over a 1000m altitude as we cross over and back down into northern Portugal. It was getting very cold and snow lined the roadside. We travelled through an amazing 4km long tunnel through the top of the mountains to exit onto the side of a huge reservoir of freezing cold water. We had chosen to avoid the Toll roads so the sat nav was taking us around the reservoir the scenic way.
The impressive cable-stayed bridge is the Ingeniero Carlos Fernández Casado Bridge.
It always amazes me that they build a town in the valley of a huge reservoir, it's like a disaster movie waiting to happen.
The reason we drove through northern Spain so fast and didn't stay there long as we are running out of gas and do not have the correct EURO adapter for our Gaslow LPG tank.

Camino de San Salvador, 6: Mieres del Camín-Oviedo
Como viene siendo habitual empezamos la etapa subiendo durante 4 kilómetros. Más adelante volveremos a ascender hasta Picullanza desde donde veremos ya Oviedo, nuestro final de Camino. Nos dirigimos a la Catedral para sellar nuestra credencial y recoger la Salvadorana. Hemos realizado este camino en 6 etapas. Se puede hacer en menos tiempo, pero teniendo en cuenta los desniveles acumulados entendemos que 6 días es una bonita forma de disfrutar este Camino.

¿Los bailes yucatecos favoritos entre los que los bailan? [SUBS EN, DE, PL, ES]
Estoy hablando con Pilar, una chica de 21 años, de Mérida. Desde hace más de 13 años baila diferentes estilos de bailes folclóricos de Mexico, pero se enfoca principalmente en las jaranas, que son los bailes típicos de Yucatan, en el sureste del país. Las jaranas se baila principalmente durante las Vaquerías y es un elemento muy importante en la cultura tradicional de la región de Yucatan. Hay unas jaranas más lentas (que a mi personalmente no parecen tan tan lentas, pero es solamente mi opinión como laico), que son de tres cuartos. También existen las jaranas más rápidas, de seis octavos, para cuales se necesita más practica y paciencia....
Algunas jaranas se baila con una botella encima de la cabeza, o con toda bandeja llena de vasos con agua y botellas, o encima de un cajón, o compaginando todos estos elementos de dificultad. A veces, incluso a los mejores pasan accidentes, como también se puede ver en el video. Son muchos años de práctica y siempre puede pasar algún error. Incluso a los mejores bailarines. Lo más importante es, seguir adelante y no rendirse! El baile favorito de Pilar es el baile de las cintas, de origen alemán, cuando los bailarines circulan alrededor de un mástil decorado con flores. En las manos tienen las cintas de diferentes colores y mientras hagan sus pasos, interlazan las cintas con el resultado de una palapa de diferentes colores. Este baile es bastante difícil, ya que puede haber varias confusiones entre los compañeros. Pero lo más importante es la práctica, así como la diversión y la sonrisa¡ El baile menos favorito de Pilar es el de la cochina, ya que lo considera muy simple. A ella le gustan los bailes que demandan más, por ejemplo los que requieren mucha concentración o equilibrio.
