Entrance to enter the city. These signs tell the eye-catching feature of this city. Valqua have a border or across the city. Estonian side is virtually the same as the name bulrineunde naked. This is interesting slogan of one city, two countries. Livonia This area is the federal body that was established in 1920 as an independent from Russia, Latvia, Estonia two countries have got blossomed, and thus the border to be drawn here. There remains a trace of border checkpoints around the city. The flag indicates that the two countries have a border here. People here every day neomnadeunda the border. Now usually it takes lots of discomfort, even if only Sengen agreement before registering dwaetjiman border yumyeongmusil Tuesday. Drought value also had to wait for a visa every fortnight to go beyond the neighborhood. It is different from other cities within a country is indeed strange things to say to each other.

An Evening in Riga and Hotel Wellton - Latvia 4K Travel Channel
Behind the St. Peter's Church in the Skarnu street is a small square with some restaurants. We choose this place for a dinner. The place seems also of great popularity among bridal couples, for first wedding photos. We watch this for a while. At the next table sit three persons, two men and a woman, who in turn attract the attention of guests at another table. We asked the couple next to us, who they are and learn that they are famous members of a band, but one couldn't tell us the name.
Now I took the opportunity to make some video clips of them. They have a little dog with them. The woman then tells me that they have it the first day. They take great care of their little darling, who keeps them pretty busy.
The second man had gone for a walk. When he returns, his colleagues have already left. Searching, he circles the church a few times.
On the square is a memorial to the Town Musicians of Bremen, a gift from the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. It was created by the artist Christa Baumgärtel in 1990.
Back at the hotel, we meet Vilmantė Matutienė, who contacted us via the internet. She manages Piggy Bike Tours, based in Klaipeda, Lithuania. She would have loved to show us her hometown and we would have liked to go there too, especially as it would not have been too far away. Unfortunately, our time frame did not allow this. So she suggested us to meet us here in the hotel.
She also works as a tour guide and organizes bicycle tours in the Baltic States. It must be wonderful to take a ride in this green landscape, especially since there are not too large mountains and slopes in the Baltic States. On our recent trip through the Baltics, we had been surprised by some heavy rain showers. So we wanted to know what they do in such a case. She explained that the group is always accompanied by a bus.
In case of rain, you switch into the bus and drive on until the rain shower is over, which happens generally quite quick. It is a nice evening with Vilmanté and we are glad to have met her. More information on Piggy Bike Tours. You can find the link in our blog.
At the end of our stay in Riga, we would like to introduce the hotel of our stay in Riga, the Wellton Riga Hotel & SPA.

Estonia - Latvia Road Trip
Estonia -- Latvia Programme invites all friends and partners to celebrate the European Cooperation Day 2013 on September 20 by going on an adventurous road trip through Southern Estonia and Northern Latvia. The road trip will start in four different places in both countries, take its participants through different experiences, and end at one location near the Estonia -- Latvia border, where everyone will come together for a dinner party and a small celebration.
During the road trip, depending on the route, there will be a chance to go to the forest school, taste natural home-grown products, race with model cars, see a modern rescue and fire service, visit a nice beach, try out a hand in drawing, practice summer biathlon and many other interactive things. All activities will be offered by projects supported by Estonia -- Latvia Programme. Towards the evening, all bus tour participants will come together at a surprise location near the border, where they will have a chance to enjoy a gourmet meal, cooked by Estonian and Latvian chefs, exchange impressions of the day with each other, and celebrate European cooperation.
Estonia -- Latvia Road Trip busses will depart from Tallinn and Tartu in Estonia and Rīga and Alūksne in Latvia in the morning of Friday, September 20. It will be possible also to get on the busses in Ape, and Valka in Latvia, as well as Võru in Estonia. In late evening, the same busses will deliver the road trip participants back to their departure locations. Registration for the road trip is open until the end of the day on September 15. Participation is free of charge, but admission on busses will be on first register, first served basis, so do sign-up as early as you can in order to ensure the seat on the bus. estlat.eu

Riga is the capital and largest city of Latvia. Riga is the largest city of the Baltic states and home to more than one third of Latvia's population. The city lies on the Gulf of Riga, at the mouth of the Daugava. Riga's territory covers 307.17 km2 (118.60 sq mi) and lies between 1 and 10 metres above sea level, on a flat and sandy plain. Riga was founded in 1201 and is a former Hanseatic League member.
Estonia - Latvia Road Trip / Līgatne
About 200 Estonians and Latvians got up early on September 20 to catch their bus for Estonia -- Latvia Road Trip, an event intended to showcase the examples of successful cooperation between the two countries and to celebrate the second European Cooperation Day. Four busses departing from Tallinn, Tartu (pickup also in Valka), Rīga and Alūksne (pickups also in Ape and Voru) drove a total of 1830 km and took participants through Estonia and Latvia. The Road Trip ended with European Cooperation Dinner & Celebration at Zvārtava Castle in Latvia that is located only 5 km from the border with Estonia.
The bus trip participants enjoyed various activities at altogether 17 different places. Estonia -- Latvia Programme part-funded projects exhibited their achievements over the last seven years. Races with model cars, participation in autumn biathlon, trying hand in firefighter craft, tasting local food products, playing autumn hockey, learning how joint prototyping helps with innovative products and showing their artistic skills were just a few activities that the participants could try out during the trip. Throughout the day people could collect stamps for special achievements in their Estonia -- Latvia Road Trip passports, which turned out to be one of the most popular pastimes during the trip on September 20.
In the evening all four busses arrived at Zvārtava Castle -- a location only 5 km from the Estonian border on the Latvian side that previously had been kept a secret from the road trip participants. Participants were served a gourmet meal, prepared by Tallink Hotel Rīga restaurant Elements and chef Svetlana Riškova, as well as had a chance to share their impressions with people from other busses and brainsrorm about new ideas for cooperation. After European Cooperation Dinner's dessert and with the arrival of darkness they also enjoyed the art installations in the Zvārtava Castle and surroundings, prepared by Alexander and Alexander from Tartu, and some music from DJ Ivars from Rīga.
All road trip participants arrived at Zvārtava on one of the busses on four wheels (although Alūksne bus broke down half way and had to be exchanged), but four lucky participants had a choice how to go back home. It came as a big surprise to all the stamp hunters that the main prize for the most successful ones were four bicycles, purchased as used in the Estonia -- Latvia Programme territory, but nicely repaired for the occasion. Marija Novada (Alūksne route), Franciska Maier (Tartu route), Anu Altmets (Tallinn route) and Māra Melbārde (Rīga route) could actually decide after the celebration, how they wanted to get back home -- they had a choice now between the bus and the bicycle.
