Aracaju is the capital of Sergipe state on Brazil’s northeast coast. It’s known for its beaches, including the central Praia de Atalaia.
By the beach, the turtle-shaped Oceanário de Aracaju aquarium has stingrays, sharks, eels and sea turtles, plus hands-on exhibits. The beachfront promenade, Passarela do Caranguejo, is lined with seafood restaurants and marked by a huge sculpture of a crab.

Visit Aracaju, Sergipe, Brazil
Aracaju is the capital of the state of Sergipe, Brazil. It is located on the coast, four hours north of our home in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Many people told us to visit this place because of its great people and tourist attractions. Aracaju was so fun! The Mercado Municipal Governador Albano Franco was the biggest and best market I have seen here in Brazil. The city is a relaxed beach town with a large well-known bridge. There is a wonderful gondola ride over a huge beautiful park that takes you to more hikes and a huge statue. They have a great zoo with beautiful birds, a giant boa constrictor, monkeys and lots more animals. There are tons of amazing restaurants and cool sights like enormous statues of African Gods, crabs and Caju fruit. At night there are parks that have tons of entertainment for kids and families like trampolines, bounce houses and race cars, bumper cars, music and a fun play grounds. It was wonderful. Video 79

Aracaju Town is the capital of the State of Sergipe, Brazil, located in the northeastern part of the country, about 350 km (217 mi) north of Salvador. It has a population of 570,937 inhabitants, which represents approximately 33% of the state population. The coast of Aracaju has many unspoiled beaches, such as the ones in Santa Luzia Island, and urban beaches, such as the Atalaia. These coastal neighborhoods include playgrounds, squares, football fields, volleyball and basketball courts, residential buildings, bars, nightclubs, restaurants, banks and hotels.

Sergipe é uma das 27 unidades federativas do Brasil. Ele está situado na Região Nordeste e tem por limites o oceano Atlântico a leste e os estados da Bahia, a oeste e a sul, e de Alagoas, a norte, do qual está separado pelo Rio São Francisco. Ele é o menor dos estados brasileiros, ocupando uma área total de 21 915,116 km², tornando-o pouco maior que El Salvador. Em 2015, sua população foi recenseada em 2.242.937 habitantes.
A capital e maior cidade é Aracaju, sede da Região Metropolitana de Aracaju, que inclui ainda os municípios de Barra dos Coqueiros, Nossa Senhora do Socorro e São Cristóvão - a primeira capital de Sergipe. Outras cidades importantes são Itabaiana, Lagarto e Estância, todas com mais de 50 mil habitantes. Ao todo, o estado possui 75 municípios.
Sergipe emancipou-se politicamente da Bahia em 8 de julho de 1820. A então capitania de Sergipe del-Rei viria a ser elevada à categoria de província quatro anos depois, e, finalmente, a estado após a proclamação da República em 1889. A atividade agrícola é um fator da economia sergipana. Em destaque nesse ramo, encontra-se o cultivo da cana-de-açúcar. A laranja e o coco também são produzidos pelo estado. O extrativismo mineral é outra atividade do setor primário. Petróleo, gás natural, calcário e potássio são os principais.
No estado, há diversos atrativos turísticos, começando pela capital, Aracaju, com destaque para suas praias, como as de Atalaia, Aruana, Refúgio, Náufragos, Robalo e Mosqueiro, todas no litoral sul de Aracaju. Caueira no município de Itaporanga d'Ajuda ao Sul e para Pirambu a trinta quilômetros ao norte de Aracaju, que conta com uma base do Projeto Tamar cujo acesso ficou facilitado pela construção no ano de 2006 da Ponte Construtor João Alves, que liga a capital Aracaju ao município de Barra dos Coqueiros. Esta tem destaque o povoado chamado Atalaia Nova, que é banhado pelo rio Sergipe e pelo oceano Atlântico, proporcionando excelente lazer e diversão, num local de tranquilidade e bastante contato com a natureza.
A cidade de Canindé de São Francisco, distante 186 quilômetros da capital, é um dos pontos turísticos mais atrativos do estado de Sergipe. Aqui, o Rio São Francisco foi represado para a construção da Usina Hidrelétrica de Xingó, formando um lago de raríssima beleza. Além disso, o turista pode entrar em contato direto com a história da civilização local através dos achados que estão expostos à visitação pública no Museu de Arqueologia de Xingó, que é administrado pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe. A visita ao Paraíso do Talhado no lago da hidrelétrica é obrigatória a todos aqueles que vão conhecer o Cânion de Xingó, que se situa na divisa dos estados de Sergipe , Bahia e Alagoas.
Outro ponto turístico do estado, é a cidade de São Cristóvão, quarta cidade mais antiga do país, foi tombada pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional desde janeiro de 1967, preserva prédios históricos e conta com vários museus onde há importantes partes da história sergipana. Recentemente a Praça São Francisco, tornou-se Patrimônio Cultural da Humanidade.
Outra cidade histórica de Sergipe, é o município de Laranjeiras, conhecido por também possuir construções antigas que aos poucos estão sendo recuperadas, alguns desses prédios são igrejas datadas dos séculos XVII e XVIII, como por exemplo a Igreja Matriz Sagrado Coração de Jesus. O municipio também é conhecido por seus eventos culturais, como por exemplo o Encontro Cultural de Laranjeiras, o qual conta com teatro de rua, grupos folclóricos, cordel, palestras, seminários e bandas culturais e populares.
Outra atração é o Forró Caju. Ele é um dos maiores eventos juninos do nordeste do Brasil, com cerca de 140 atrações locais e nacionais reunidas durante catorze noites na praça de eventos entre os mercados Albano Franco e Thales Ferraz. O evento é gratuito e faz parte do calendário junino brasileiro. Organizada pela Prefeitura de Aracaju, a festa atrai um público de 1.000.000 de pessoas em cada edição.

Last Day of School in Brazil
The last day of school went out with a bang! The kids took their final tests but also got to play games, watch a movie and dance. Over all, this last school year was a success. The kids worked so hard both in and outside of school. They completed tons of homework, projects and Portuguese study. We are so proud of them. 2018 school year. Video 98

4 Best Places to Visit in Rio - 1 Month Update
Number 3 was our favorite. Rio is truly one of the most beautiful cities in the world! I love being surrounded by thick, rich, green vegetation everywhere we go. The plant life is so incredible, we all just stop and stare. All these places are great and easy to enjoy with the family. Video 8
1. Copacabana Beach. One of the most famous beaches in the world. It is beautiful, perfect for surfing and sun bathing. The wide sidewalk is lined with incredible black and white cobblestone. Great for scenic walks.
2. Parque Lage (where Snoop Dogg and Pharrell filmed their video “Beautiful”) Parque Enrique Lage is a public park in the city of Rio de Janeiro, located in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood at the foot of the Corcovado. The land was formerly the residence of industrialist Enrique Lage and his wife, singer Gabriella Besanzoni. We also enjoyed playing at a playground on the perminses where we saw monkeys in the trees.
3. The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden or Jardim Botânico is located at the Jardim Botânico district in the Zona Sul (South Zone) of Rio de Janeiro. The Botanical Garden shows the diversity of Brazilian and foreign flora. There are numerous greenhouses. The garden also houses monuments of historical, artistic and archaeological significance. The 140-hectare park lies at the foot of the Corcovado Mountain, far below the right arm of the statue of Christ the Redeemer and contains more than 6,000 different species of tropical and subtropical plants and trees, including 900 varieties of palm trees.
4. The Vista Chinesa (Chinese Belvedere). It’s in the same neighborhood as Jardim Botânico and the Parque Nacional & Floresta da Tijuca. It has a beautiful traditional Chinese structure overlooking the amazing views of Rio.
