Visakhpatnam or commonly known as Vizag is one of the oldest port cities of India. This Andhra Pradesh port city is famous for its beautiful landscapes, serene beaches and rich culture. And for this reason it is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in India.
Day -1
On day 1 first reach Visakhpatnam railway station or airport. Then go to Araku Valley. The distance of Araku Valley from Vizag is 120 km. Araku can be reached both by train or car from vizag. The train route from vizag to Araku needs a special mention. Kirandol express leaves Vizag early in the morning and takes approximately 5 hours to reach Araku. The train moves through 58 tunnels and passes over 84 bridges. The train route is famous for its scenic beauty and breathtaking landscape.
Day -2
On Day 2, take a local tour of Araku Valley. Local Cab fare is around Rs 2500. Top places to visit are:
Ananthagiri Coffee Plantation.
Galikonda View Point
The Tribal Art Museum.
Day-3
On day 2 return back to Vizag. A local cab will cost Rs 3000 for this trip. On your way visit Borra Caves and Shimachalam Temple.
Borra Caves are situated in the Ananthagiri hills of the Araku Valley. British geologist William King discovered this million years old cave in the year 1807 and since then it is one of the most attractive tourist destinations of the place.
The caves were formed when river waters flow through the limestone area and the calcium carbonate transforms into calcium bicarbonate and eventually it is washed out by the running water. The most striking feature of the caves is its exquisite variety of irregularly shaped stalactites and stalagmites.
Shimachalam Temple
Located 800 meters above the sea level this beautiful temple is dedicated to Lord Narsimha.

On day 4, take a tour of local sightseeing around Rishikonda Beach. Cab fare is approximately Rs 3000 per day. The famous places to visit are
Rishikonda Beach
The Rishikonda Beach is a beautiful sea beach with pristine blue waters located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal in Vishakhapatnam.
Bheemilli Beach
The long beautiful Beach is located at the confluence of Gosthani River and the Bay of Bengal. It also houses the remains of a 17th century fort and cemetery, reveling history dating back to the Dutch era.
Thotla Khonda
The excavations of 1906 that took place here, brought out many Buddhist monuments such as stupas and chaityas.
Kailasagiri
Kailasagiri is a beautiful hill top park in the city of Vishakhapatnam. The hill is 360 feet above the sea level and it overlooks beaches, forests & the city of Vishakhapatnam. It is one of the best tourist spots in the city and famous for a bird's eye view of the bay.
There is also a toy train that moves all around the park. Take a ride to get a stunning view of the city and the beach.

War memorial
The memorial is dedicated to the 'Victory at Sea', during the Indo-Pak war in 1971.
Ramakrishna Beach
It is one of the most famous beaches in Vizag. Ideal to spend some relaxed time.
Submarine Museum
The museum is inside an actual submarine, INS Kurusura, which was India's 5th submarine. The museum is situated on RamKrishna beach, near the War Memorial in Visakhapatnam.
Dolphin's nose
This 174 m high rocky headland situated in the south of Vizag looks similar to a dolphin’s nose. The nose seems to be projected out towards the Bay of Bengal giving it a very attractive look.
Matsyadarshini Aquarium
Matsyadarshini is a beautiful aquarium and houses countless species of fresh and salt water marine life captured in glass tanks.
Day-6
On Day 6 return back to Vizag station or airport for departure.
