In Scotland, miles of crashing coastlines frame the land and pristine, shell-strewn beaches are one of our favourite places to explore. It’s time to reach for the bucket and spade, and come and taste the salty air. Which beautiful beach will you choose?
In south west Scotland, head to Sandyhills Bay for a day of paddling in the clear, shallow waters. While you’re in this beautiful part of Dumfries & Galloway, take a trip to the charming harbour town of Kippford or explore the woodland trails in Dalbeattie Forest.
The Isle of Harris is famed for its white sandy beaches and azure waters, and the award-winning Seilebost Beach is one of the very best, situated beside a tiny crofting village and overlooking Luskentyre.
Lying at the most westerly point in Mainland Britain, Sanna Bay on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula offers superb views across to the nearby isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna. Keep an eye out for dolphins and whales in the water.
Add together a freshwater loch, a sandy beach and a surrounding pine forest and you get… Loch Morlich! Near Aviemore, the loch is a truly unique place to unwind and there are plenty of watersports to try out.
Go land-yachting and admire the setting for the opening scenes of Chariots of Fire at West Sands Beach in St Andrews.

SCOTLAND, THE CORRAN FERRY HOTEL
The Corran Ferry Hotel is the only hotel on the Corran Narrows offering both hotel and hostel accommodation. It was built in 1743 and subsequently has had many additions. The history of the location means that it has witnessed the aftermath of the battle at Culloden and has testimony from the location as an important crossing for Ardnamurchan Peninsula, The Isle of Mull and Moidart .
The Corran Ferry Hotel stands 25 metres from the slipway for the ferry ( the crossing is £6.70 per car and free for pedestrians and bicycles ) and adjacent to a small beach which is more than adequate for launching Kayaks and Canoes. It is very easy to find and stands by the A82 .
We have at the neighbouring village of Ballachulish the start of a dedicated bicycle hard road that stretches to Glencoe and to Oban taking in some phenomenal landscapes.
Mountain Biking, climbing, scrambling and hill walking couldn't be easier in access and with our bar almost ready for use with a selection of real Ales, whiskys and wines to please most people.
Bar Meals and restaurant meals adopt a mixture of styles and aim to please both in qualitity and quantity. So expect home made pies, curries, baked fish, goulasz, pasta and paella as standard fayre with additions as specials.
Carry out lunches are available on request.
Wifi connection is free and colour tv, coffee and tea making facilities are found in each room.
Sea Fishing from boat or beach casting either solo or in competition is very popular and the rich seas in the vicinity always provide. The area also has good access to coarse fishing for the keen.

Old Photographs Tobermory Isle Of Mull Inner Hebrides Scotland
Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Tobermory, the capital of, and the only burgh on, the Isle of Mull in the Scottish Inner Hebrides. The town was founded as a fishing port in 1788, its layout based on the designs of Dumfriesshire engineer Thomas Telford. Ferries sail between Tobermory and the mainland to Kilchoan on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. During the Second World War, Tobermory was home to Royal Navy training base HMS Western Isles. The fictional town of Torbay in Alistair MacLean's novel When Eight Bells Toll was based on Tobermory, and much of the 1971 movie was filmed in the town. In the middle of the 1800s emigrant sailors created the community of Tobermory, located in Ontario, Canada. This namesake town has twin harbours, known locally as Big Tub and Little Tub, which sheltered ships from the severe storms of Lake Huron. Tobermory waterfront was chosen by the BBC as the location of the popular children's television series Balamory. The village of Dunvegan is set in the north west of Skye and contains a mixture of traditional stone and modern houses along with a selection of shops and hotels. About a mile from the village is Dunvegan Castle, home to the Clan MacLeod, who have continuously occupied the castle since the 13th Century, and are said to have had dealings with the wee folk at the Fairy Bridge. Also in the area are the Cuillin Mountains with their fantastic rock forms and pinnacles, which many climbers would put at the top of their list. Other attractions on the Isle are plentiful - visit the Talisker Distillery or Portree, the island's only town, set around its natural harbour, which boasts an excellent range of shops, hotels and restaurants, and also offers Sea Eagle trips from the pier, which are extremely popular.
