Trip to Northern Pakistan: Fairy Meadows, Nanga Parbat, Deosai, Attabad Lake, Rama Meadows & Lake
5 Friends + 7 Days + 10 Locations of Northern Areas of Pakistan = TRIP OF A LIFETIME
Hello! This is the video of our trip to the Northern Areas of Pakistan covering the deadly Fairy Meadows track, Nanga Parbat base camp Hike, Rama Meadows and Lake, Deosai Plains, Sheosar Lake and Attabad Lake. The trip was a week long trip and cost us around $200/person. Following is a quick review of the places:
Some final verdicts:
-Karakorum Highway (KKH): A true Marvel of Engineering.
-KKH before Chilas: Probably the worst road you'll ever travel.
-Route to Fairy meadows: One hell of a scary track!
-Fairy Meadows: It truly has a touch of fairy tales to it!
-Nanga Parbat: It's Awesomely HUGE!
-Rama Meadows: The most serene place we visited.
-Route to Deosai: Serene!
-Gilgit: It's quite big and developed.
-Hunza: The best community of people we came accross.
-Attabad lake: It's an amazing gift from nature!
And now my favorite location!
DEOSAI!!!
No cameras, words, blogs or explanations can describe what it actually is! The only description that I can give is the name itself, Deosai -- The land of Giants!
TRIP PLAN!
Day 1
7:00pm Departure from Islamabad (NATCO Office)
Day 2
12:00 PM NATCO stop at Chilas
Took a taxi to Raikot bridge as NATCO stopped for one hour (we didn't have time)
2:00 Pm took a jeep from Raikot bridge towards tattu fairy Meadows
5:00PM start of Fairy Meadows Hike
7:00 PM reached Fairy Meadows ( This hike will normally take 3-4 Hours)
Day 3
8:00 AM Start of Nanga Parbat Base camp hike
5:00 PM came back to the fairy meadows hotel
Day 4
8:00 AM left Fairy Meadows
12 Pm reached Raikot bridge
5 PM reached PTDC motel Rama Meadows (Astore)
Day 5
8:00 AM left for Rama Lake and Deosai
6 PM came back to Astore from Deosai
Day 6
8:00 AM Left for Gilgit
3 PM Left for Hunza from Gilgit
5 PM Reached Attabad Lake in Hunza
8 PM came back from attabad Lake to Hunza
11 PM Left Hunza for Gilgit
Day 7
6:00 Am left for Rawalpindi in NATCO bus from Giligt
23 hours trip back to Pindi

If you are planning to visit northern areas of Pakistan specially Gilgit Baltistan then you must know top places to visit. We've ranked Skardu, Hunza, Fairy Meadows, Rama or Astore, Phandar in Ghizer according to facilities and landscapes, it may vary from your point of view. But all these places are must visit places in Gilgit Baltistan Pakistan.
1. Skardu : Skardu is a mountaineering hub of Gilgit Baltistan in Pakistan, all major treks of K2 Concordia, Snow Lake and other top treks in Pakistan starts from Skardu, but it does offer sightseeing visit as well, visit of Deosai National Park, Cold Desert, Khaplu Palace and Shiger Fort are worth visiting sights and place.
2. Hunza Valley : The most prime tourist location in Gilgit Baltistan is Hunza Valley, with splendid landscapes of snow capped mountains it is most photographed valley in northern areas. Hotels are more advanced and it's very much easy to roam around. Khunjerab Pass China Border is prime tourist attraction nowadays.
3. Fairy Meadows : It's the home of mighty Nangta Parbat, Fairy Meadows is a lush green meadows in front of Nanga Parbat, it's without a doubt most beautiful meadows in Pakistan. But it require little effort to reach there, 2 hour of adventurous Jeep Ride of Fairy Meadows ends at Tattu Village, then you will have to trek 4 hours to reach at the top of Meadows. Camping and cottages facilities available widely in Fairy Meadows.
4. Rama Meadows & Lake : Astore is less explored area of Gilgit Baltistan but has too much to offer, Rama Meadows and Rama Lake is worth visiting points in Astore, also road from Astore leads to Deosai Plains and you can reach Skardu from Astore side as well. You will need 4x4 Jeep to cross Deosai Plains.
5. Phandar Valley : Ghizer district is less developed and less explored area of Gilgit Baltistan, but it's no less beautiful than other valleys of Pakistan. Phandar is prime location in Ghizer, Phandar Lake and Ghizer River will take you out of this world for sure. Shandur Top is accessible from Phandar in 4x4 Jeep only, you can also reach Chitral by crossing Shandur Pass.

Skardu to Minimarg Domel Rainbow Lake - Heaven in Astore Gilgit Baltistan
A short video of Minimarg, Domel and Rainbow Lake in Astore District, Gilgit-Baltistan. Minimarg is accessible from Astore Kargil Road and from Skardu by crossing Deosai National Park. Chillum Chowki is the junction point where one road leads to Deosai Plains and one leads to Minimarg via Burzil Top.
There are Army Messes in Minimrag where you can stay and spend quality time without any problem. Minimarg Road is good only Burzil Pass is tough to cross.
Minimarg is one of the many villages located in the Astore District of Gilgit-Baltistan. It is a scenic valley located close to the world-famous Deosai plains. It is around 3500 meters above the sea level. According to Shams Paras Qureshi, a local journalist, the name Minimarg actually means the place where “Mini” died. He said that Mini was reportedly the wife of a British officer deputed in the region during the colonial period.
“She was a very humble lady, liked by the people, so after her death in this area the picturesque valley became famous as Mini-Marg, or the place where Mini died”.
But Minimarg is not open for general tourism, you need NOC from Army to visit the area, because it's close to Line of Control (LOC). Permission can be obtain from Chillum Chowki army check post if you reach there early in the morning and plan to come back on same day they usually give you permission if you are on 4x4 Jeep with family. Or you can approach some high rank officer and seek permission to visit this heavenly beautiful unexplored region of Gilgit Baltistan.
