Bagalkot, or Bagalakote, is a city in the state of Karnataka, India, which is also the headquarters of Bagalkote district. it is situated on branch of River Ghataprabha about 530 km northwest of state capital Bangalore, 410 km southwest of Hyderabad, and about 570 km southeast of Mumbai. The population of the urban agglomeration was 1,11,933 according to the provisional results of 2011 national census of India, and the city is spread over an area of 49.06 square kilometres with an average elevation of 532 m above MSL.

    Pattadakal, also called Paṭṭadakallu or Raktapura, is a complex of 7th and 8th century CE Hindu and Jain temples in northern Karnataka . Located on the west bank of the Malaprabha River in Bagalakote district, this UNESCO World Heritage site is 14 miles from Badami and about 6 miles from Aihole, both of which are historically significant centres of Chalukya monuments.
