Tubbercurry Co. Sligo, Ireland - Places to Visit in Ireland
Tubbercurry and the road trip we had to reach it - this was the new trip we recently went on.
Tubbercurry - or as it is sometimes pronounced Tobercurry - is the second largest town in the county of Sligo in Ireland and the one which we were heading to this time. Tubbercurry is the heart of south Sligo and it boasts many traditions which are continued until today with the festivals and events which are held every single year in the city.
The location of this town makes it popular on different levels; it is actually located just beneath the Ox Mountains and this boosts one of the most beautiful scenery one could see as well as some sporting events that take place in the area and which include Gaelic Football and Hurling, Soccer, as well as some other water sports that one could enjoy.
We went to Tubbercurry in order to explore part of south Sligo county that we still know so little about and that is why we decided to spend our new trip in this place. There are different events that take place in Tubbercurry every single year and the most three popular ones include the South Sligo Summer School of Irish traditional music, song and dance which is held every year during the second week in July, there is also the Old Day Fair Festival which is held in early August, and finally the third event which is the Western Drama Festival which is held each year in early march. Actually these three different events are considered huge and tend to attract a wide range of people every single year.
The green areas which we passed by during our trip to Tubbercurry in Sligo was long but they were filled with different beautiful green spaces which we even stopped at to take some videos and pictures for them - with our drone camera as well - until we came to the house we are going to stay at for the days we are spending there and which was also placed in the middle of a beautiful green area.
If you are travelling to Tubbercurry from Belfast, you will definitely need to stop in the middle of the road for dinner - just like we did- because it is not a short distance and also if you have kids then you will definitely need to feed them :-) - it is also believed to be healthy and important to have a break in the middle of the road in order to give your body the chance to rest from the car sitting position.
We have a long plan to check for this trip and different places which we want to visit. From the most important touristic attractions for this place, there is Easky Lough, the Gillighan's World which is also known as the Field of Dreams, and we also want to check Knockalongy. For those who are travelling as a group of friends or going like couples, there are different sports or activities which they could experience and go for but since we are going with our kids, it might be a little bit hard for any of us to try something much different from those activities found there.
Generally speaking, there are different things that one could do in Tubbercurry in county Sligo - it might also depend on the month in which you are travelling. The most famous and important things include walking, horse riding, golf, cycling, going to the animal zoo, visiting the Birds of Prey, kayaking, canoeing, mountain climbing, doing any of the paddle sports, or else visiting the Faerie Gardens and Heritage Park - we are not sure yet which one of them we will be doing but we will still make a plan.
For those who are not much well aware of Ireland and its counties, county Sligo is part of the province of Connacht, and one of the most important things that make county Sligo noted is the Benbulben Mountain, which is one of the most distinctive natural landmarks in Ireland.
We have enjoyed different road trips before in Ireland and Northern Ireland, some of them were while trying to reach other destinations and cities and some were just for the main purpose of just being on a road trip with beautiful and different scenes around.
The best road trips we have been on before include the road to Galway, on which we made quick stops near Dromahair, Ballintogher, Ballygawley, and Manorhamilton ( and there is also another road trip which we enjoyed and which was considered our favorite is the Causeway Coast road trip ( and that's in addition to the Giant's Ring in Lisburn of course (
There is actually a lot of things that one could do in Northern Ireland or Ireland and lots of places and road trips that one could go on, the most important part is knowing how to choose the correct places and how to make the right plan and take the right decisions when it comes to the different places and cities you are visiting across the country.

Queen Maeve's Tomb - Knocknarea - County Sligo - Ireland

County Sligo
Sligo is seriously under rated as a tourist destination. It certainly helped that we had some fantastic weather during our stay but the same could be said for anywhere in Ireland. And even as we walked the beautiful Gortarowey Forest Park Loop in the rain on our last day, majestic Benbulben still stole our hearts.
