Banda Island, Indonesia - Best Travel Destination
The Banda Islands are a volcanic group of ten small volcanic islands in the Banda Sea, about 140 km south of Seram Island and about 2,000 km east of Java, and are part of the Indonesian province of Maluku. The islands are also popular destinations for scuba diving and snorkeling.
Exploring Banda Neira
Our flash trip to Banda Neira. We are going to Banda Neira from Dobo on June 10th 2018. We use PELNI ship KM Tatamailau. Trip to Banda from dobo took approximately 2 days.
In Banda we stayed at Maulana Hotel, they located around the harbour. Just took 3 minutes walk from harbour. The ambiance of the Hotel was very nice, we took bunker beds for stay. It took 125 k each person.
The staffs were very friendly and polite. They welcomed us very nicely. The Hotel also gave you wifi access, delicious breakfast( toasted bread with some nutmeg spread and great coffee, and the last thing but not least,bicycle!( you can use it to explore island of neira.)
For our snorkeling and discovering plan, we were helped by the nutmeg dive centre. He was very friendly and nice guy. The service of the trip was great.
We discovered some nice places in Banda Neira. We snorkled and dived at lava flow, the reefs, corals, fishes was great. We found a group of dolphin during our way back to hotel.
In the city of neira, we traveled some historical places like fort belgica, fort nassau, exile place of Bung Hatta and Bung Sjahrir. Former Governor of VOC’s house and so on.
From my opinion, Banda Neira is a place with great ambiance for adventuring an looking back history of colonial age. Banda can give you one of the best journey you’ll ever had.

Banda Neira or Banda Naira is one of ten volcanic islands in the Banda Archipelago in the Maluku province, in eastern Indonesia. The Banda Islands, probably better known as the fabled Spice Islands of ancient times, are covered with towering, aromatic, tropical-evergreens. The Myristica Trees, indigenous to the Banda Islands, are the source of two rare and lucrative spices: nutmeg and mace, once found exclusively on the Banda Islands. A sparkling, sapphire sea surrounds these already incredible islands, brimming with exquisite corals and abundant ocean life, making the Banda Islands not only a historically significant destination, but also an internationally recognized diving spot.

The quickest route to the Banda Islands is through the Pattimura Airport in Ambon Island, about 36 km from Ambon City. This is a domestic only airport, with flights available from Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Kupang, and several other smaller destinations.
It is impossible to book round trip flights, so you would need to be sure to book your return ticket once in Ambon. Don’t forget to keep reconfirming, as flights are often cancelled due to bad weather, engine problems, and other unforeseen circumstances.
Alternatively, you can cross the Banda Sea by ferry, which is about 7 hours from Ambon to the Banda islands, but once again, these voyages are extremely unpredictable. The Banda Islands are also a popular destination for cruise ships, and can be accessed via various cruise companies as well.

2012 12 21 Moluccas Indonesia journey
A video clip of our five week trip to the Moluccas in Indonesia.We started in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and flew via Surabaya to Ambon on the Moluccas. Places visited were Seram, the Banda Islands and Kei Islands. We ended the journey in Bangkok (Thailand).
