Places to see in ( Castile La Mancha - Spain ) Belmonte
Belmonte is a Spanish municipality of the province of Cuenca , in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha . It is located at kilometer 342 of the N-420 road , which runs from Cuenca to Alcázar de San Juan , which is the same as that of Córdoba to Tarragona .
The excavations carried out in the Collegiate Church in 1976 due to the collapse of part of the apse, exposed the ruins of an earlier Visigothic church, perhaps of the fifth century, which proves that the population is older than imagined.
Erroneously in some documents it appears with the name of The Huts, when it turns out that from always it was called Bellomonte . In the Bull of Pope Innocent III a Garcia Bishop of Cuenca called Bellomonte, because of the mountain that surrounded the town.
King Enrique II of Castile , on 20-2-1367, in the courts of Burgos , granted him the privilege of villazgo, exempting him from the jurisdiction of Alarcón and granting them the same privilege as that enjoyed by the residents of Castillo de Garcimuñoz . A similar privilege had previously been granted to him by King Pedro I of Castile in 1361.
All this was very important to turn Belmonte into one of the most important towns in the province and was named Head of the Party of the whole region, because there were all the main administrations as well as in the provincial capital that was and is Basin. Some are the courts, the prison that today is the theater of Belmonte.
The castle of Belmonte is a fortress that rises in the hill of San Cristóbal, to the outskirts of the town of Belmonte , to the southwest of the province of Cuenca . It was declared a historical-artistic Monument belonging to the National Artistic Treasury by decree of June 3, 1931. Currently, it is considered as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC).
Belmonte Castle is a unique building that, due to its state of preservation, its special structure, and its external appearance, practically the same as it had at the time of its construction, constitutes a valuable heritage treasure. It was built in the second half of the fifteenth century , by order of Don Juan Pacheco , first Marquis of Villena . It was a moment of convulsions and internal struggles in the Kingdom of Castile .

Places to see in ( Castile La Mancha - Spain ) Alarcon
Alarcón is a municipality in the province of Cuenca, in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Located 87 kilometers (54 miles) south of the city of Cuenca, Alarcón spans an area of 120 km² (50 sq mi) at an elevation of 831 meters (2,726 feet).
Alarcon is situated on a promontory within a closed bend of the Júcar River. Not far downstream from the Alarcón Dam, an important reservoir, the town also has the smaller Dam of Henchidero at its doorstep.
Of Iberian and Roman origins, Alarcón first appears in recorded history at its occupation by the Arabs, to whom it owes the construction of the primitive castle on which the existing one is based. The history of Alarcón is governed by its role as a stronghold; however, the castle is not the town’s only precious heritage: it also claims a rich architectural variety, both religious (the Churches of Santo Domingo de Silos, San Juan Bautista, the Santa Trinidad, and Santa María del Campo, as well as the Hermitage of Santa María de la Orden), and civil (the town hall, the House of Villena, and the Castañeda Palace).
The town of Alarcón was declared the site of a Historic-Artistic Grouping (Conjunto Histórico-Artistico) on July 3, 1981. In 1994, artist Jesús Mateo began a project to paint the interior of the old Church of San Juan Bautista, creating the Mural Paintings of Alarcón (1994-2002), which were recognized by UNESCO in 1997 for their global artistic interest.

City Walk in Cordoba - Spain 4K Travel Channel
Our Cordoba city walk starts at the Plaza de las Tendillas with its glamorous architecture of the last century. Here is the business district of Cordoba. We walk south via Calle Jesus Maria, Calle Angel de Saavedra, Calle Blanco Belmonte and Calle Conde y Luque up to the Mezquita. It is well known that the Moors were masters of artificial irrigation, but in the garden of the Mezquita you can very well take a closer look at the filigree canal systems. The plants only get as much water as they need, a challenge at the hot summer temperatures.
We circumnavigate the Mezquita in order to get a feeling for the external dimensions of this magnificent building.
Through the narrow lanes of the Jewish quarter, the Judería, we reach the Puerta de la Luna, the southern gate. In the cool courtyard of the gate is a nice restaurant where we enjoy a cool drink.
In front of the gate is a portrait of Abu al Walid Muhammad ibn Rushd Averroes, one of the most important Arab philosophers. Abu Yaqub Yusuf I, the 2nd Caliph of the Almohad, commissioned him to reorder and comment the works of Aristotle. He was an advocate of the pure logic and fell in disgrace, because his view caused a conflict with the Islamic orthodox forces, the Caliph needed as a supporter for a campaign. He was banished and his works were burned. However already 2 or 3 years later, the Caliph brought him as a doctor again to his court in Marrakesh, where he stayed until his death. The Islamic orthodoxy categorically refuse his works to this day.
Along the Calle Cairuan, that runs along the old city walls, we go to the Puerta de Almodóvar. It is an impressive road, where water basins ensure coolness. On one side the street is flanked by the crenellated ramparts and the other side by traditional houses with pretty floral balconies.
The Puerta de Almodóvar is the last preserved town gate of the Arabic Age. It was restored in the 14th century.
In front we see a statue of Lucio Anneo Seneca the Younger of Cordoba. Known as philosopher, dramatist, naturalist, politician and as a stoic, he was one of the richest men in Rome, although he preached restraint in his philosophical writings. Yet his works are the most read in Rome. As an educator and advisor of Emperor Nero, he tried to reduce its licentious acts.

Palacio Belmonte Hotel - Lisbon
The Palacio Belmonte is a former residence of a noble family dating back to 1449, the hotel has sitting rooms like no other: More than 3,800 blue-and-white Portuguese tiles from the 1700’s cover the walls, complemented by dreamy fado music. I felt as if we had the entire palace to ourselves, as though we were breathing in living history of those walls.

Palacio Belmonte perched on the Castle’s walls at the top of the hill facing the river was a place too enchanting to be missed for our own house, but 380 doors and windows to open every day decided it otherwise. And Lisbon needed hotels!… So for two years the vernacular sculpture ,Palacio Belmonte, was studied to achieve a new difficult goal.
Frederic an ecologist – since the time very few knew the meaning of the word – used his usual methods, the elderly were called, the old documents were studied, technology worked on lost formulas and soon they knew the materials used in 1420 when the three towers became a house and in 1640 when the house became a Palace. Step by step a new project took shape to give birth to only 9 suites in 3.700 sq meters so the interior beauty – tiles and volumes – would not be damaged and the reconstruction started following the principles of sustainability and the rules in the Chart of Venice.
Because aesthetic were of most importance, walls, floors or anything that didn’t please the eye, was done and redone until perfection, ours! ( Struggling with the worker’s skills and taste. – How can you tell a specialist that, what he sees as perfect, we don’t like?…
After 6 years of works Palacio Belmonte came back to life splendorous in a new design, full of details, light and new colours.
For us artists, its nudity couldn’t miss an exhibit before its last goal. And how perfect the modern huge paintings of Rui Goncalves fitted the huge old walls!
In this way the new Belmonte was introduced to the city. Ever since people haven’t stopped talking about it.
It was now time to bring inside the pieces we had fallen for, one by one they found their place in the sculpture.
But besides art we are fan of wellbeing, so health is in with the concept.
Instead of elevators we gave you little stairs in all directions where you exercise without noticing it. Natural ventilation replaced air conditioning and the ambiance is perfect all through the year. Whatever we touch is natural, whatever we eat is organic and simply good, you feel heaven in bed, the walls breath, you breath and the reason you feel so well!
Palacio Belmonte is a quiet place where you listen to the birds in the garden and no one will disturb you, a place to enjoy a relaxing herbal bath or being shaved the old way, to smoke a good cigar or have a massage with a view in your own terrace, to try the difference and be happy!
And where you are welcome to join us in the kitchen, but also have a Michelin exquisite dinner on a terrace or enjoy the friendly Cultural Club Café where you can share your piano skills.
Palacio Belmonte is not a hotel, there is no formal reception, no crowds, no televisions, no chocolates on the pillow, only beauty and simplicity.
You will be given the keys to your Palace in Lisbon and the staff is entirely at your service with a simple call.
We find three types of people: those who see, those who don’t see and those who want to be seen.
If you belong to the first group you will love Palacio Belmonte, if to the second Belmonte might open your eyes, but if you belong to the third you will feel much happier at the Ritz!
Belmonte is a wonderful experience!
