Day Trip from Kiev - Top 5 Things to Do in Chernihiv
DAY TRIP FROM KYIV / KIEV. Day trips aren't really a thing in Ukraine (yet), but I'll be chronicling some one-day destinations from Kyiv, starting with Chernigov/Chernihiv and the TOP 5 THINGS TO DO in this 10th century city. Included are: Red Square, St. Anthony Monastery & Caves, Hulbische Kurgan, Besimyaniy Kurgan, WWII Monument + Eternal Flame, Trinity Monastery, Eletsky Monastery, St. Boris & Gleb Cathedral, Black Grave Burial Mound, and Chernigivske Beer.
Renat in Kıev (Ukraine), Trıp to Belaya Tserkov, August 25, 2010
It's amazing how human memory works. Due to implicit memory (emotional memory), I was able to remember the place I visited at the age of 5. That's 28 years later. One may ask how is that possible? To find the exact place and even the people who lived there? The answer is; Implicit memory. You see, when I was 5, during our vacation stay in the village of Belaya Tserkov (White Church, area an hour away from Kiev), I almost drowned in the river that you will see in this video, my father saved my life. This emotional near-death experience was imprinted in my implicit memory. I later realized what the cause of it was. The thing is that as a child I was always hyper active and curious, so I always challenged adults around me when I would get bored or with lack of stimulus to discover something new. So I found that the chicken house in front of the house, where we stayed in Belaya Tserkov with an old lady and her niece and children, had chickens laying out eggs, so I would take the eggs and through them onto the dirt road like white oval bombs that explode. This made the old lady very angry and she was always running after me with a tree stick to give me a beating. I guess this made me feel guilty and sooner or later the universe caught up with me by teaching a lesson in that river.
KIEV - Look Around Ukraine
Video one from the list of countries that were visited filmed. Kiev is the city I was born and was the original inspiration behind these travel videos. Enjoy!
Bila Tserkva - 2018
The town was founded in 1032 as Yuriev by Yaroslav the Wise, whose Christian name was Yuri. The present name of the city, literally translated, is White Church and may refer to the
(no longer existing) white-painted cathedral of medieval Yuriev.

A Short Trip To... Kiev, Ukraine
As part of a short trip away, I took in a the slightly unexpected destination of Ukraine.
With a green, dynamic and homely city like Kiev, I'm surprised I didn't come sooner! With some great carby food options, interesting architecture and a wealth of museums, I'd certainly recommend should you need somewhere a little off the beaten path :)

One, two, three,
B is for bee.
One, two... —
People build walls. Too many walls and a lot of floors, indeed. An endless silly race on the winding stairs. No beginning, no end. It's a race — up and down.
It seems, the people just want to hide themselves.
The bee is near you. —
The wall bricks are heavy and durable: too many statuses, cliche and endless social games. One of them is Hide and seek. This game is particularly popular in the big cities. That is where people especially feel naked. Despite their masks of false emotion. People run away from other people, from themselves, from all assessments. Wow! They try to run away from the race itself! Finally, the race looses its sense.
Don't cry, Don't speak,
Play hide-and-seek! —
Sometimes you just have to stop the time and freeze the rush, to look around and experience just this current moment. But you can't.
So, you have the strong sense that it is the other person needs to push the pause button. Sometimes I do it for someone else...
At any time: despite the weather, time of the day and my changeable mood.
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.
Well, now, I go to seek!
