Broager is a town with a population of 3,339 in Sønderborg Municipality in Region of Southern Denmark, Denmark. It lies on the Broager Peninsula and is therefore surrounded by water on three sides, the waters of Flensborg Fjord leading into the Baltic Sea. The town of Broager lies in the middle of the peninsula by a major road, which leads to the Egernsund Bridge, which crosses over the Egern Strait to the Jutland mainland. The town's two-towered church is its most important landmark. The town was part of Broager Municipality until 2007 when it became part of the larger Sønderborg Municipality.

    Broager Church is a church in the locality of Broager, Denmark.The chapel and vestry are Gothic-style and the whole church is built of bricks. The churchyard has the tallest wooden bell tower in Denmark, which dates back to 1650. The church itself is decorated with lovely murals from various periods. The late-Gothic murals in the eastern vault of the nave and north chapel are the most eye-catching. The chapel's paintings depict the legend of St George killing the dragon, and his martyrdom. These pictures, together with the late medieval carved wooden figure of the dragon slayer from app. 1490, which is as tall as a man, formed the setting for the chapel's Saint George cult. The altarpiece from 1717 had in 1993 a thorough restoration, made by Anthon Günther Lundt from Sønderborg. The styl...
