Beach Paradise Brazil [Best Sailing Destinations] // Sailors & Seadogs
In this video of our series Best Sailing Destinations we present our personal best-of beaches of the three Brasilian states Rio Grande do Norte, Paraiba and Pernambuco, all of them max. 2 hours drive from the great starting point Marina Jacaré Village, Cabedelo.
While we were waiting for the paint on Seefalke to dry, we had plenty of time to explore the beautiful beaches and a few other points of interest in the area. While lots of sailors take long trips to Rio de Janeiro or Belem we rather wanted to explore the vicinity of Cabedelo. This video is our personal best-of the most stunning beaches of Rio Grande do Norte, Paraiba and Pernambuco. We picked beaches with very different character, from quiet to touristy, from city to nature…
Make sure you check them out while you are anchored or moored in Jacare Village.
Tabatinga is a quiet beach off the beaten path about one hour drive from Joao Pessoa in Paraíba state. There is no touristical infrastructure but the scenery is unreal.
If you want to stay in the city, then Tambaú is the place to be. A beautiful beach downtown Joao Pessoa with sports facilities and plenty of restaurants and stores. This is where the locals go on weekends.
If you want it more touristy, you have to go to Pipa, two hours north of Joao Pessoa, just south of Natal in Rio Grande do Norte. The little town Pipa has all amenities for tourists but is also crowded any time of the year. This is the only place where some English was spoken.
An alternative to Pipa is Porto de Galinhas south if Recife in Pernambuco. There is a lot of fun stuff to do like beach buggies, wind surfing or horseback riding but it is not as crowded as Pipa.
If you need some beach break, take a two-hour drive inland and visit Inga Stone. Inga Stone is a rock with ancient inscriptions assumed to be 6,000 years old.
We are Maik and Michelle, two sailors from different worlds and different cultures with very different perspectives about sailing around the world together on our 43-foot, steel ketch, Seefalke. We also have different levels of sailing experience. Maik (a German) has sailed for more than 20 years, while Michelle (an American) has only been sailing five years. Our crew includes two Beagles, Cap’n Jack and Scout! Come along for the ride to follow our journey! We also love to cover cool travel destinations and the amazing sea creatures we discover along the way!
Tour our sailing vessel, Seefalke!

Santos, is a municipality in the Brazilian state of São Paulo and was founded in 1546 by the Portuguese nobleman Brás Cubas. It is partially located on the island of São Vicente, which harbours both the city of Santos and the city of São Vicente, and partially on the mainland. The city is also home to the Coffee Museum, where world coffee prices were once negotiated. But there is more to Santos than that, a football memorial dedicated to the city's greatest players, which includes Pelé, who played for the Santos Futebol Clube, and the beachfront garden that figures in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest beachfront garden in the world, are among other sites worth paying a visit.

It was the exportation of coffee from the Port of Santos that gave rise to the city and mostly accounted for the wealth of the city at the turn of the 20th century. Exportation and importation through its port have made it the modern city one finds today and turned it into the indispensable outlet for the production of the powerhouse that is São Paulo State. Adorning the landscape of the port city are the canals that are over a hundred years old, and in 1924, it became the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Santos.
Santos became a tourist city from the start of the 1900-hundreds and onwards, with the construction of the International Hotel and Parque Balneário and the construction of the beach front gardens in 1935. Still today tourism in Santos is one of the main economic activities, mainly linked to beaches and historical heritage. And in October 2006, light crude oil was discovered off the coast in the Santos basin.
