The coral reefs are excellently preserved in its natural state and are home to schools of colorful fish. An ideal destination for snorkeling and diving.

Traveling to Capurgana is already an adventure itself. Only 1 company offers flights in a tiny little airplane from Medellin to Acandi, from where you have to take a rough boat ride to Capurgana due to the lack of roads. Colombia ends its extraordinary Caribbean coastline with a flourish: Capurgana is a laid-back village and its surrounding beaches are hidden in an isolated corner of Colombia's northwest, just a short stroll from the Panamanian border and it makes up one of the country's lest visited highlights. Backed by jungle-covered mountains and washed by fabulously azure waters, the villages and beaches in that region are far away from mainstream tourism.
I knew there is a small but beautiful beach in Panama (yes, you have to pass a checkpoint so take your ID with you). Instead of a 1 hour boat ride, I decided to walk through the jungle and make it a day trip, but this time I needed a guide. As you can imagine, already the hike to the beach was fantastic and adventurous, seeing many different animals and beautiful landscapes. La Miel offers perfect white sand, azure water and a couple of small restaurants where you can eat fresh fish and drink a cold beer. Don't expect much people around, but the peacefulness was exactly what I was looking for.
