Centre is one of Burkina Faso's 13 administrative regions. The population of Centre was 1,523,980 in 2006 and increased by 40.2% in 5 years to 2,136,581 in 2011 . It is the most populous and urbanised region in Burkina Faso; in 2006 11.1% of Burkina's population lived in Centre. The region's capital is Ouagadougou, which also serves as the national capital. Centre region consists of only one province, Kadiogo. As of 2010, the population of the region was 1,262,783 with 53.05 per cent females.   • 2. Laongo Sculpture Symposium Ouagadougou
    Founded in 1989, by Burkinabe sculptor Siriky Ky, the symposium takes place on a site located about 35 km from Ouagadougou, in the province of Oubritenga. Invited sculptors create their works in-situ using granite from the site. Some works combine local granite and other materials such as metal. The first iteration of the biennal symposium opened January 13, 1989, gathering 18 sculptors from 13 countries.The tenth edition took place over twenty days in May 2012.As of 2010, the legal status of the site was unclear, with overlaps and gaps in jurisdictions.

    Ouagadougou Cathedral, or the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Ouagadougou is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ouagadougou in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. It was built in the 1930s, by apostolic vicar Joanny Thévenoud from the White Fathers, at the time of French North Africa, and was dedicated on 19 January 1936, after a two-year construction. Behind the cathedral, near the carpark is an altar dedicated to Mary, Ave Maria, with a statue of the Virgin in a carved stone arch.
