Napoleon Bonaparte near Boulogne
Just outside Boulogne is a Carrefour supermarket, good place to buy wine, cheese and most other things that might take your fancy. And it is a good place to park to see the column with a statue of Napoleon Bonaparte on!
This was where Bonaparte assembled his army when he was thinking about 'England'. But, Nelson won at Trafalgar, and Napoleon went off to Austerlitz and Russia.
In summer, you can climb the column, there is a warning that you cannot if you have heart trouble!

On continue notre visite! Parmi les bâtisses impressionnantes, le pavillon Shenxiange est un incontournable. C’est le monument le plus important du village, et il date de 1581. La légende raconte qu'un jeune homme à la force extraordinaire voulait construire de ses propres mains un bâtiment de 9 étages. Se blessant lors de la construction du 2ième, ce sont finalement les villageois qui ajoutèrent plus tard un 3ième étage en bois. Le plus spectaculaire dans tout ça, bien c’est le fait que le pavillon a été construit sans aucune fondation. C’est tout simplement des roches empilées les une sur les autre juste...
