Ecuador is one of the most diverse countries in the world though it's comparably tiny. Beside the Galapagos Islands (which is the #1 tourist destination in Ecuador) the country has a lot more to offer, therefore I focussed on La Sierra in this video which is a paradise for landscape lovers and outdoor adventurers.
Another reason to visit the Andean region is that you have the chance to dive into the local culture and get a real feeling of Ecuador. The places to see in Ecuador I focussed on in this short video are the result of my own travels along the center from north to south and are easily doable in 2 weeks time.
Things to do in Ecuador covered in this video:
01) 00:36 - Otavalo market in Otavalo
02) 01:00 - Hike the Cuicocha lake
03) 01:25 - Middle of the World, Mitad del Mundo & Quitsato in Cayambe
04) 01:48 - Quito, capital & UNESCO World Heritage
05) 02:08 - Termas de Papallacta (hot springs)
06) 02:24 - Cayambe Coca National Park
07) 02:45 - Quilotoa & Shalala viewpoint
08) 03:13 - Tren Crucero & Nariz del Diablo (Devil's nose)
09) 03:47 - Inka ruins in Ingapirca
10) 04:04 - Cuenca & it's beautiful old town

Napo River border crossing: Iquitos, Perú to El Coca, Ecuador with 4 Local Boats
This is what it's like to cross the border between Perú and Ecuador by little boats on the Napo river in the Amazon region. There's no roads in this part of the Amazon rainforest, so people have to take the a boat to visit other places. The route in this video takes you from Iquitos to the little villages of Mazan, Santa Clotilde and Pantoja. In Pantoja you stamp out of Perú and take another boat to Nuevo Rocafuerte, where you stamp into Ecuador. From there it's one boat ride left to El Coca in Ecuador. In total, you will need to take four boats to cross this border!

10 Days in Tena, Ecuador - EP. #159: Christmas & New Year's Vlog
Download my FREE bicycle touring starter guide ►
I decided to stay in Tena, Ecuador for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. I rented a cheap hotel room (that cost me $12 USD per night) and spent almost every day in Tena exploring the city, biking around the area, eating at the one and only vegetarian restaurant in town, and I even went river rafting. It was a lot of fun!
If you want to see how local people celebrate Christmas and New Years in Ecuador, then this is the video to watch. You aren't going to belive all the crazy cross-dressing locals you see dancing in the streets on New Year's Eve! So funny!!! And so very different from how they celebrate New Years in so many other parts of the world.
If you enjoy this video, then you'll definitely want to go back and watch the rest of my bicycle touring video blogs ►

5 Things to See in Bolivia
What to do in Bolivia? La Paz is a must see and while you're there you might as well try out the coca leaves. If you're the adventurous type you have to try mountainbiking on the Death Road.
Otavalo, Ecuador Travel Guide - Ep 3 EVERYTHING YOU MUST DO
Want to Travel the World? Travel around the world? Latin America? Backpack or Backpacker? Backpacking tips? Is Ecuador Safe?
In these series of short video guides, I'll be traveling around the Ecuadorian town Otavalo, giving advice and explaining what's good to do and see.
The dancing at parties consists of stomping and shuffing and swaying side to side whilst moving as a group in a large circe. The more people there are the bigger the circles.
Hitchhiking is loads of fun, so go with an open mind and hold on for the bumpy ride.
Cotapaxi is a must when you're there and is easy if you manage to land yourself your own car, fear not if you can't as taxis can be rented to take you all the way up.
My family is from Otavalo so any questions or queries feel free to leave a comment.

A Stunning 3 Day Trek Around The Quilotoa Loop In Ecuador Ep. 6 (Travel Diary)
Hola everyone — thanks for trekking the Quilotoa Loop with me!
As most of you already know, I am currently off budget backpacking through South America, and this vlog is apart of a whole South America travel series. Right now, I am backpacking in Colombia. This travel vlog takes place in Quilotoa, Ecuador or as I saw it, my vast Ecuadorian playground. More specifically, I stayed at the Llullullama Hostel, among others, but this hostel was the only worthwhile place I stayed at in this video.
This travel vlog begins in Latacunga, Ecuador, where I prepare for the 3 day hike ahead of me. Then we start the hike! On the first day, we got lost a lot and rained on, but it was all worth it because of what we arrived to at the Llullullama Hostel. They had a full spa and a delicious, hardy vegan meal.
We ate family style here, and communally cureled up by the fire place and shared laughs. There was no wifi in this remote mountain lodge, so we had to resort to other means of entertainment: the Cosmopolitan magazine's secret to happiness. Of course, we all found this just hilarious and stayed very entertained.
On the next day, we skip the rain -- THANK GOD! We had a lovely 6 hour hike through the mountain range and got to see so many lovely sites. My favorite, however, was the elementary school we happened upon. I have this special love for children. I find them to be the purest expression of love, so this was just such a treat to play with the kids for a few moments while we rested.
When we arrived at our next hostel for the night, my team and I were all so stoked for food and shelter. We feasted that night, enjoyed long hot showers, and hit the hay. But, not before, a certain drama unfolded. You see, it just wouldn't be a Kaia Cloudsurfer vlog without a least one drama, right? The light in our dorm room exploded in a small flame and gas was spewing out of it. Anywho, crisis averted. We good:D
On the final day of the hike, I got to see more beautiful mountain babies along the way, and I found a perfect little pup, that I literally carried with me for 10 minutes on the trail. However, gravity. So, I let the dog down (and she followed -- so sweet).
Long story short, we got to the crater, and it was dope! Such a surreal and beautiful experience. It was one of those places that forced you to acknowledge and appreciate the vastness of the universe. Just beautiful. Also, Evan breaks it down when we get there. Haha, definitely check that part of the video out. It's my favorite!
Thank you for watching, guys!

With this video the actual project starts after I used my arrival day to explore some highlights of Quito on my own.
I met my team buddies Rocket & Wink as well as Michelle & Johannes from YUKIKO and we went to the market and to La Ronda at night.
On Day 2 we finally left the capital of Ecuador to head high up to the Andes and our first stop: Quilotoa. The impressive crater lake has been one of our highlights on that amazing trip and is one of the best things to do in Ecuador!
