Hopkins Belize to La Ceiba Honduras - What a trip !! | Backpacking Central America
What a crazy travel day as we leave the coastal town of Hopkins in Belize and continue heading south towards La Ceiba in Honduras. Things don't quite go according to plan - which happens quite often in Central America.
We take a chicken bus to Punta Gorda located at the south of Belize and take a boat over to Puerto Barrios in Guatemala. We stay in a lovely hostel there called El Castillo before getting an early shuttle to the town of La Ceiba in Honduras - Country number 18 for TREAD the Globe.
We were aiming to get the boat across to the island of Utila however travel days don't always go according to plan !!

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WATERFALL IN HONDURAS
This is Ojo De Agua River, part of Sierra De Agalta National Park in eastern Honduras, this waterfall was discovered in 1995, only a few people have been there since then, the entire mountain is pristine, i could not believe when i new the waterfall was also going to be detroyed to bild a hidroelectrical project, i did everything i could to save not just this waterfall but the rest of them in Sierra De Agalta, but i did not get support from people, i also talked to the last two Presidents who are both from Olancho where Sierra De Agalta National Park is, but they showed no interest, i thik these Mountains could have been the most important site for ecoturism in Central America and people from the surrounding villages could have improved their way of living, unfortunately Hondurans do not realize that
