10 Amazing Places to Visit in Seychelles
Are you planning your next vacation? Consider the wonderful Republic of Seychelles. This is the place to be if you want to experience fiery sunsets, green jungles, white sand, and turquoise waters. Below are just some of the many compelling attractions you should take a look at places to visit in Seychelles.
1. #Morne Seychellois National Park
The country’s largest national park, Morne Seychellois National Park covers over 20 percent of the Seychelles’ most populous and biggest island, Mahe. Its mountain chain’s highest point overlooks Victoria, the capital city. Enjoy the spectacular views of the coast, mountain slopes, and tea plantations while hiking one of the trails.
2. Victoria
This capital city is home to the country’s only seaport. Here, you will find attractions like Freedom Square and Seychelles National Botanical Gardens. Don’t forget to visit St. Paul’s Cathedral, Rond-Point de L’independence, the Natural History Museum, and the lively Sir Selwyn Clarke Market.
3. Anse Volbert
Idea for family vacationers, this beach boasts warm and shallow waters that are safe for swimming (even for small children). The shores are lined with many hotels and restaurants.
4. Vallee de Mai National Park
A well preserved prehistoric forest, Vallee de Mai National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to unique flora like giant coco de mer fruit palm and vanilla orchids. It also boasts rare fauna such as fruit pigeons and black parrots (the country’s national bird).
5. Cousin Island
This nature reserve is serves as a habitat and breeding grounds for other fascinating bird species, from magpie robins and turtle doves to fairy terns and brush warblers.
6. Anse Lazio
Situated in Praslin Island, this picturesque beach has a coral reef perfect for snorkeling opportunities.
7. Aldabra Atoll
Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Aldabra is the biggest raised coral atoll in the world. It has a rich avian life and is also the habitat of giant land tortoises.
8. Anse Intendance
Because it does not have a protective reef, Anse Intendance is visited by frequent wild waves and big swells, making it an ideal spot for surfers.
9. Beau Vallon
The alluring Beau Vallon has calm seas and is an excellent spot for water sports.
10. Ste Anne National Marine Park
To truly view the diverse marine life of Seychelles, go on glass-bottom boat excursions, snorkeling, and scuba diving in Ste Anne Island.
Praslin Island, Seychelles: 6 Things to Do and Love Praslin For
AJAY JAIN
When you are on the Praslin island in the Seychelles, you do not need any reasons to love it - the emotions come out naturally. But if you must know, here are six of the many reasons that makes Praslin a great place to visit.
#1 Rent a Boat
These are available in abundance for many activities you can go for. Just head out for a picnic in the ocean, go snorkelling, lunch on the beaches, dive deep into the waters, or look out for wildlife on surrounding islands. All priced reasonably.
# 2 Rent a Car
The best way to get around the island. Not expensive, you can pick one starting at around 40 Euros a day. And you cannot spend more than 10 Euros of fuel in a day. If you get one, rent the classic Mini Moke - it’s a delightful little machine, even if a little underpowered for steep inclines.
# 3 Eating Out
You will be spoilt for choice at the many restaurants and cafes - and the settings on beaches and hills just add to the experience.
#4 Best Beaches in the World
Seychelles boasts some of the most pristine and clean beaches in the world - and there are no madding crowds and vendors making you feel it is your private space.
#5 Sense of Security
Cops have little to do in Seychelles. Crime is almost unheard of. People leave their houses and offices open, with bags and mobiles lying around. The country is one big happy and trusting family.
#6 Home to the Sexy Nut
Don’t miss out on visiting the Vallee de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a reserve for the endangered Coco De Mer nut. It is expensive to buy and illegal to steal. But have one look at it and you will know why it is called the sexy nut. Don’t get ideas though.
Seychelles Travel Guide - Exploring a hidden paradise
Seychelles Travel Guide - Exploring a hidden paradise
The Seychelles are a group of 115 islands, only a few inhabited, in the Indian Ocean that lie off the coast of East Africa, northeast of Madagascar. It's home to numerous beaches, coral reefs and nature reserves, as well as rare animals such as giant Aldabra tortoises. Mahé, a hub for visiting the other islands, is home to capital Victoria. It also has the mountain rainforests of Morne Seychellois National Park and beaches, including Beau Vallon and Anse Takamaka.
Mother Nature was unbelievably generous with the Seychelles, a fabled paradise whose islands lie scattered across the Indian Ocean. Spellbinding beaches are the main attraction. Exquisite ribbons of sand lapped by turquoise waters and backed by lush hills, palm trees and Dali-esque boulders. Beyond the beach, diving and snorkelling are brilliant in the warm waters amid abundant marine life, while few places on the planet do ocean-side luxury quite like the Seychelles. Mahé is the largest island and entry point to the Seychelles, with some fabulous resorts, restaurants and beaches, not to mention the small capital city of Victoria. But it's also the busiest island, with glorious Praslin and La Digue a short boat ride away. Even further out, there are real lost-world islands to be found.
