Chhattisgarh is a heavily forested state in central India known for its temples and waterfalls. Near the capital Raipur, the town of Sirpur on the Mahanadi River is home to the red-brick Lakshmana (Laxman) Temple, decorated with carvings from Indian mythology. In the south, the city of Jagdalpur hosts the Sanjay Market on Sundays, a bartering place for local tribes. The huge Chitrakoot Falls lie to the northwest.

1. Chitrakot Waterfall :
The Chitrakoot Falls is a natural waterfall located to the west of Jagdalpur, in Bastar district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh on the Indravati River. It is located at a distance of 38 kilometres (24 mi) to the west of Jagdalpur. The height of the falls is about 29 metres (95 ft). It is the widest fall in India.
2. Achanakumar Wildlife Sanctuary :
The Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary is an Indian sanctuary in Mungeli district, Chhattisgarh State. It had been established in 1975, under the provisions of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, and declared a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger, in 2009. It is a part of the Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve.
3. Bhoramdeo Temple :
Bhoramdeo Temple is a complex of Hindu temples dedicated to the god Shiva in Bhoramdeo, in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It comprises a group of four temples of which the earliest is a brick-temple.

It is the state’s second most popular wildlife sanctuary, established in 1976 under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
7. Kanker Palace :
One of the best deluxe heritage hotels in Chhattisgarh, Kanker Palace was built in the first half of the 19th century and then rebuilt in 1937. Placed amid a well-maintained garden, it is the residence of the royal family of Kanker.
8. Tirathgarh Falls :
Theerarthgarh Falls is situated near Jagdalpur at Kanger Bhatti in the Kanger National Park. This 300 feet fall is an enticing and magnificent one and is also a ‘must see’ destination in the tourist map of Chhattisgarh. The falls is astride the Mugabahar River and the flow is strong.
9. Maitri Bagh :
The Maitri Bagh Zoo is located in the Bhilai, India. It Is the biggest zoo in the region. The zoo comprises 111 acres of park lands. It is run by the Public Sector Undertaking, Steel Authority of India Limited.
10. Kanger Valley National Park :
Kanger Ghati National Park (also called Kanger Valley National Park) was declared a national park in 1982 by the Government of India. Among the various protected areas in the country, the Kanger Valley National Park near Jagdalpur, in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh is one of the densest national parks, well known for its biodiversity, landscape, waterfalls, subterranean geomorphologic limestone caves, and home for the Bastar hill myna, the state bird of Chhattisgarh.

Bastar District is a district of the state of Chhattisgarh in central India. Jagdalpur is the district headquarters. The district has an area of 4029.98 km². .Bastar District is located in Chhattisgarh in the central parts of India. Bastar District, before splitting districts, was one of the largest districts in India. The district headquarters are in located at Jagdalpur. The district covers an area of around 8755.79 sq km. Bastar District is located in the southern part of Chhattisgarh and is situated at a height of 2000 ft plateau from sea level. Bastar had the population of 1,411,644 in 2011 including Kondagaon district, of which male and female were 697,359 and 714,285 respectively. Of the total population, more than 70 per cent are tribal people like Gond Tribe, Maria, Muria, Dhruva, Bhatra, Halba Tribe, etc.

Sukma district is the newly formed, southernmost district in Chhattisgarh South Bastar Region, India. It is located on the southern most area of Chhattisgarh mainly known as Bastar. It is bordered by Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

बस्तर जिला भारत के छत्तीसगढ़ राज्य के 27 जिलों में से एक है और जगदलपुर शहर इस जिले का मुख्यालय है । बस्तर जिला 4029.98 वर्ग कि. मी. क्षेत्रफल में फैला हुआ है ।बस्तर जिला छत्तीसगढ़ के कोंडागांव , दंतेवाड़ा, सुकमा और बीजापुर जिलों से घिरा हुआ है । यह पहले दक्षिण कौशल नाम से जाना जाता था। ख़ूबसूरत जंगलों और आदिवासी संस्कृति में रंगा ज़िला बस्तर, प्रदेश की सांस्कृतिक राजधानी के तौर पर जाना जाता है। 2011 की जनगणना के अनुसार बस्तर जिले की जनसंख्या 14,13,199 थी। बस्तर जिला को सात तहसील जगदलपुर , बस्तर , बकावंड , लोहंडीगुडा, तोकापाल , दरभा , बास्तानार में विभाजित किया गया है । बस्तर जिला सरल स्वाभाव जनजातीय समुदाय और प्राकृतिक सम्पदा संपन्न , प्राकृतिक सौन्दर्य एवं सुखद वातावरण का भी धनी है । बस्तर जिले में प्रत्येक 1000 पुरुषों पर लिंगानुपात 1024 महिलाओं और साक्षरता दर 54.94% है।

People travel to experience something different….something out of the ordinary and that’s where Chhattisgarh is an absolute delight!
Tribal haat (markets) in Bastar give a great sense of tribal lifestyle. Exotic tribal food - Chapura (chutney of live Red ants & eggs) for the brave hearted and Boda (a rare underground mushroom grows under Sal trees in rainy season). Get high on Mahua, a local alcoholic drink - the first 2 sips will overwhelm you but from the 3rd you would fall in love with smoothness and the kick it sets in; that too at a throwaway price of Rs 10 a glass!
The massive Chitrakote waterfall (Niagara of India) would make you realize the size of us humans in front of vastness of nature. Three layered Teerathgarh falls, sits in midst of dense mountainous jungle. Several lesser known yet beautiful falls at several places are perfect detours during your journey.
Sirpur (an ancient civilization site uncovered only in 2002), amazing diversity in ethnic groups (tribals of Bastar to Tibetians in northern Manipat town), dense forests with buzzing wildlife in Achanakmar and Barnawapara, unique festivals ( 75 day Dusshera in Bastar)…..the list is endless and description is short.
