Abi's First Road Trip, Blackwater Falls West Virginia
Our 2 month old little girl, Abi, takes her first road trip. We begin our first leg in Blackwater Falls, West Virginia in the beautiful Monongahela National Forest. The state park is one of West Virginias premier outdoor destinations. The impressive falls drop nearly 62 feet. blackwater river is so named from the rich tannins in the water leached from the needles of hemlock and red spruce trees prolific in the park. The falls drop 62 feet into what is the beginning of the expansive blackwater canyon which runs nearly 8 miles long. There are several other interests nearby the falls. Lindy point overlook affords excellent views in the canyon several miles downstream of the falls. The small town of Thomas is time capsule of the 1950s. Check out the Tucker County wind farm nearby the largest and first in West Virginia.

Thomas, Tucker County, West Virginia is located in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains. The town of Thomas has a story to tell. It's a story of immigration, industry, and community ... truly the American story. The first settler (Jacob C. Pase) arrived with his family in the fall of 1880 and within the following years more families came to settle in the forest. It was dramatically noted then that Thomas was surrounded by a howling wilderness of pine and laurel, and wild beasts could be seen and killed from the very house doors Thomas, West Virginia was listed on the National Register of Historic Place in 1998.

Trip to Blackwater Falls - Davis, Wv
Instead of staying home we went on a trip to Blackwater Falls in Davis West Virginia. We tried some good food at The Smokehouse in the lodge and looked around inside the gift store. We also got to explore and see some wild life. Most of all the Blackwater Falls that everyone around the world wants to see!

We decided to take a trip up to my favorite park in WV on March 17th, 2018
Blackwater Falls is one of the most beautiful and most photographed falls in the state of West Virginia.
I highly recommend making a trip to Davis WV for a visit and definitely stop by Siriannis Café for some real good eatin.
Also check out Blackwater Lodge as well and book you a room for a nice quiet weekend get away.
