Photos, maps and extra tips on my blog:
Texel is a popular tourist destination in the Netherlands, sadly not many people outside of the Netherlands are familiar or have even heard of this unique island that is why I felt it was time to expose Texel to the rest of the world with this uniquely crafted YouTube video and Texel travel guide loaded with tips and my personal advise.
Upon arrival on Texel treat yourself to the most popular local beer on the island; Skuumkoppe. A delicious 6% wheat beer made with fresh filtered dune water, also opt-in for a guided tour through the beer brewery and learn about the local Texel brewing processes.
If you are a big nature buff, definitely checkout the gorgeous De Slufter national park which is part of the Wadden Sea, a massive UNESCO world heritage site and the largest tidel area in the world. Make sure to taste a fresh sea lavender leave for its sea salt content.
Texel is primarily known for skydiving and oyster harvesting, these activities are absolutely worth in participating, especially the Texel Skydive, go watch my dedicated YouTube video and complete article on the skydiving experience on Texel. Oyster harvesting must have been my second favorite activity on the island, never in my life have I ever tasted such incredible oysters, the oysters from the Wadden Sea were massive and extremely creamy due to their size.
One important note on oyster harvesting, bring tall rain boats, the blubber will completely ruin your shoes. After those salty oysters, you may be in the mood for something sweet, if that is the case, drop by Bakery Timmer and try a local Tessels Kiekje and Hongerpunt which are Dutch cakes.
In the evening have dinner in village De Koog, the party town of Texel for its bars and night clubs. Definitely try the lamb stew at restaurant Eigeweis! If you visit Texel during the summer, you can also watch the fireworks show and ride fairs during the summer funfair.
Other great places are De Worsteltent restaurant for a quality dinner experience and ice cream farm Labora at which you should try the local flavours; Boerenjongens and Kwark. What makes Labora unique is the cows producing the milk literally on-site, go watch the automatic milk-robot at work.
Additionally, go back in time to the Dutch Golden Age at museum Kaap Skil to learn everything about the many Dutch merchant vessels laying anchorage at Oudeschild, Texel waiting for the right winds to set sail to the rest of the world. Texel used to be world's largest anchorage spot. Top it off at cheese cafe Wezenspyk and try the local stinging nettle and beer cheeses, you may be pleasantly surprised, bring those cheeses for the road trip back.
Basically, Texel is a small island consisting of 7 villages on the northern tip of the Netherlands. Texel receives 30% more sun compared to any other part of the Netherlands. In conclusion, consider Texel for a day trip or stay the night at the funky booby trap hotel De Kievit for a few laughs. If you like natural beauty, beaches, oysters, getting a bit dirty and local Dutch culture than Texel is for you!

The beautiful Wadden island of Texel - Holland Holiday
Texel, beautiful island in the Wadden Sea.
In the North of Holland there are 5 inhabitant wadden islands.
They border the North Sea and the Wadden Sea.
The Wadden Sea became UNESCO World Heritage.
About twice a day the tide transforms the landscape from land into sea, which developed a unique nature reserve.
This video shows you the largest island: Texel.
Take the ferry in Den Helder. They sail frequently.
The island is approximately 20 kilometers long and 8 kilometers wide and it offers a multitude of attractions.
We visit the picturesque village of Den Hoorn, beach village De Koog and shopping place Den Burg.
Be surprised by the little wadden harbour of De Cocksdorp. At low tide it runs completely dry. Eat fish in the cosy harbour of Oudeschild with its many terraces and drink the local beer ‘Skuumkoppe’ wich means white caps.
‘Ecomare’, shows you a lot about the Texel nature and history.
And they care for stranded sea animals.
Watch an other top attraction: Texel airport.
You can spend a whole day there by watching small airplanes and parachutists while having a drink, a lunch or a diner on a comfortable terrace.
The video shows you how to make a free fall jump without training.
A life experience!
Like flying but dont want to jump out of the airplane?
Book a scenic flight.
Enjoy beautiful footage of the distinctive lighthouse located on the North tip of the island, surrounded by enormous white sand beaches.
We only show you a few highlights of Texel.
Visit this beautiful island to discover more of it!

St. Petersburg, Russia Travel Guide - Must-See Attractions
St. Petersburg is often described as the most Westernized city of Russia, as well as its cultural capital. It is the northernmost city in the world to have a population of over one million. The Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The most important places to visit in St. Petersburg are: Church of the Savior on Blood (one of the greatest landmarks of St. Petersburg, its striking facade leaves a memorable impression on visitors that come from around the world), St. Isaac's Cathedral (one of Russia's largest churches. Constructed in the 19th century, a French-born architect created this remarkable structure), Peterhof Palace (Peter the Great built this incredibly luxurious imperial palace. Situated by the gulf of Finland, it was built in the early 18th century), Hermitage and many more.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important St. Petersburg travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.
Netherlands Part 2 | Texel
Welcome to one of the best days of 2018! My current job allows me to travel to all sorts of wonderful places, but I get to also go off the beaten path and discover some of the behind the scenes things a country has to offer. Amsterdam is an incredible city with a rich and glorious history, but don't discount the rest of the Netherlands.
The northern coast of the country is home to the Dutch Wadden Islands. The largest of these islands is Texel, and it is easily accessible from Amsterdam. Those looking for adventure should definitely go check out all the things this island has to offer. I went in the beginning of winter so I was FREEZING by the end of the day, but my tip is to rent the scooter from Rijwielverhuur Veerhaven Texel near the ferry port. Then head up to Den Burg, the largest city on the island, and browse the shops. Afterward, stop by Ecomare and visit the seals and porpoises, then explore the Dunes. You can also take your scooter along the bike trail that goes from Den Koog to the lighthouse at the northern tip of the island.
MOST CHARMING CITY IN EUROPE? (BRUGES, BELGIUM TOUR) | Eileen Aldis
Bruges, Belgium might just be the most charming city in Europe. If you closed your eyes and imagined a picturesque, fairytale, travel-back-in-time, absolutely breath-taking European city I'd guess that Bruges is pretty close to what's in your head. It's what European vacation dreams are made of. A veritable time capsule of medieval architecture, It's easy to understand why it's a UNESCO World Heritage City. It is rare to see so many streets of buildings all so well preserved. Walking around is like being transported back in time and history here is on another level. This town hall? It was the seat of government for more than six hundred years. This old hospital? It's been a hospital since the 1100s (and only stopped in the 1970s). The reason why Bruges is so well preserved has a twist: the city was too poor to renovate and rebuild. Bruges has experienced periods of great wealth, great poverty, and great wealth. During the down times, citizens didn't have the cash to make 'improvements' to their houses and to this scarcity we owe a great deal! Ironically, the current citizens of Bruges benefit from their forebears' inability to knock things down and rebuild. Bruges is now a huge draw for tourists from around the world who flock to see the same buildings people were too poor to change. Huzzah! This is why I love history!
Our day in Bruges started at the Folklore Museum. It's only 4 Euro and you can get a nice overview of life in the city in the 19th and 20th centuries. Don't forget to look for the black cat who lives there. He's rare to see and is one of a long line of black cats who call the museum home. We then walked (you can walk everywhere) to the Burg Square where you'll find the Stadhuis (town hall) and a little further on is the Grote Markt. The latter is the main square where you'll find see the Belfry (Belfort) and dozens of tourists. Bruges is known for two things: an abundance of beauty and an abundance of tourists seeking it. But no one cares because you're so stunned at the charming city around you. We walked on to the Church of Our Lady where the altar piece is a Michelangelo sculpture of the Madonna and Child. Made of Carrara marble, it's been stolen twice and is now safe again to view at the church. Across the street is Sint-Janshospitaal - the one that was a hospital from the 1100s to the 1970s. Now you'll find religious art and - my favourite - examples of old ambulances. A visit here makes you really appreciate modern medicine. It started to rain and we were getting hungry so we headed to the Friet Museum (Fry Museum). How could we visit Belgium without doing a deep dive into the history of fries?! We wanted to find out why so many people mistakenly call them 'French fries' - we also wanted to eat fries. Check and check. It stopped raining so we ended the Bruges tour by boarding a river cruise because there are parts of the city only visible from the water. I'd definitely recommend a boat ride if you're visiting Bruges - it's relaxing and offers a unique perspective not seen by other means. We absolutely loved visiting Bruges and hope you enjoyed this visit to the jewel of Belgium.

In this episode the BWT crew and The Proper People are exploring an 600-year-old palace together. Over the course of the centuries this building complex was in possession of a famous Italian noble family. Generations of warlords spent many years of their lives here using the building as hunting lodge. The last resident however was an engineer and artist. Still today you can find plenty of his belongings like paintings and sculptures. For us personally this mansion is so impressive that it already appears unreal. We're always surprised about the hidden and almost untouched time capsules we're able to discover on our adventures!

This historic town on the Rhine River will leave you speechless as you meet their old town buildings decorated with frescoes. You have to admit; the whole village exudes beautiful artistic atmosphere. This is probably why Chantal's parents decided to be married there in 1970!
Bonus recommendation from our professional ice cream lovers – don’t forget to try Stein am Rhein’s ice cream if you find yourself here, it is surprisingly good and much more affordable than the ones we ate in other parts of Switzerland.
