Northeast of Grand Case off St Martin, the snorkeling at Pinel Island is highlighted by old decaying coral formations and low visibility of 10-15 feet. Pinel Island is part of a National Marine Park located off the coast of Cul-De-Sac. The most popular place to snorkel at Ilet de Pinel is the protected reef off the south end of the island. Pinel island situated on the North Side of St.Martin (French Side) , not so far from Orient Beach .It's protected nature reserve with excellent beaches & snorkeling.
Five minutes ferry ride from French Cul de Sac ($10 round-trip) runs every half hour until dusk. It is a must see day trip.

St. Martin offers a diverse culture since the island is divided into the Dutch-side and French-side. The French side has a more genteel ambience, more fashionable shopping, and a Continental flair. The Dutch side tends to be less expensive, has casino hotels, and more nightlife. There are lots of water sports available to you - diving, snorkeling, sailing, and windsurfing are all popular choices. And it's easy to spend the day relaxing on one of the 37 beaches, strolling the boardwalk of Dutch-side Philipsburg, and exploring the very French town of Marigot.

Beach-goers will enjoy the placidity of St. Barths’ beach scene. Crowds are generally light even at the height of tourist season. You will find that you discover a few favourites but all are worth a visit, even those harder to reach like Colombier – which is accessible by boat for those who like a nice maritime view – or by scenic hike for outdoor types.
For those who prefer a more serene beach outing, Gouverneur (see picture below) and Petit Cul de Sac beaches provide for an afternoon of quiet reflection and tranquility.
