Motihari is the headquarters of East champaran (Tirhut Division) in the Indian state of Bihar. Motihari is around 165 km northwest from Patna, the capital of Bihar, 45 km from Bettiah, and 72 km from Muzaffarpur. The city is close to Nepal. Birgunj, the second largest town of Nepal, is 55 km away.motihari has a great historical importance, it was a part of Raja janak's empire. The first independence satyagrah was started from motihari. Mahatma gandhi came to Bihar on the request of raj kumar shukla, where he saw the plight of indigo farmers and thus he started satyagrah against british government.
Motihari has many tourist places like kesaria, areraj, sita kund, chandi mandir etc. Todays it has evolved as an educational hub. Students from different places come to Motihari for studies.

TOP 10 PLACES TO VISIT IN BIHAR
It is the 13th largest state, with an area of 94,163 km2 (36,357 sq mi) and the 3rd largest by population. It is contiguous with Uttar Pradesh to its west, Nepal to the north, the northern part of West Bengal to the east, and with Jharkhand to the south. The Bihar plain is bifurcated by the river Ganges which flows from west to east. Two of India’s most glorious dynasties, Mauryas (321 -185 BCE) and Guptas (320 to 550 CE) flourished in ancient Bihar region which was then known as Magadh. It is in Bihar that the world’s first democracy was in governance by the Lichchivi (the present Vaishali) about 2600 years back.
1) Mahabodhi
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a Buddhist temple in Bodh Gaya, marking the location where Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, is said to have attained enlightenment. Bodh Gaya (located in Gaya district) is located about 96 km (60 mi) from Patna. The Bodhi tree at Bodhgaya is directly connected to the life of the historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, who attained enlightenment or perfect insight when he was meditating under it. The temple was build directly to the east of the Bodhi tree which is supposed to be a direct descendant of the original Bodhi Tree.
2) Nalanda University
The site is located about 95 kilometres southeast of Patna near the town of Bihar Sharif. Founded in the 5th Century A.D., Nalanda is known as the ancient seat of learning. 2,000 Teachers and 10,000 Students from all over the Buddhist world lived and studied at Nalanda, the first Residential International University of the World. The famous Chinese traveller and scholar,Hieun-Tsang stayed here and has given a detailed description of the situations prevailing at that time.
3) Takht Sri Patna Sahib
It was built in remembrance of the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs on 22 December 1666, and like many historical Gurdwara's in India and Pakistan, this Gurdwara too, was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
4) 80 ft Buddha Statue
The Great Buddha Statue popularly known as 80’ Buddha Statue was unveiled and consecrated on November 18, 1989 with a ceremony graced with the presence of His Holiness the XIV the Dalai Lama, who blessed the 25-meter statue. It was the first great Buddha statue built in the modern history of India. The statue is situated next to Mahabohdi Temple at Bodhgaya
5) Patna Museum
The state museum of Bihar is an important place not to be left out of the itinerary of anybody visiting the State Capital. Located at the heart of the city it boasts of the innumerable heritage collections found in the region replete in glorious historical settings. Built by the British rulers in 1917 the grand building is a fine example of the Indo-Saracenic architectural style.
6) Rajgir Hot Springs
Presently the most visited hot spring is in the eastern slope of Vaibhar hill. As there are multiple Hindu temple structures and tales related to Mahabharata with the main hot spring, it is very popular to Hindu pilgrims. This water is supposed to be healing, especially for arthritis and joint pains.
7) Vishwa Shanti Stupa
The magnificent white marble and concrete stupa dome rises about 125’ high that was built in 1969 at the top of the Ratnagiri hill to commemorate the Buddha. There are four golden Buddha statues around the dome. The sombre sound of the enormous gong emitting from the temple behind fills the entire space with an aura of sanctity.
8) Golghar
It is a granary built by Captain John Garstin, in 1786.After the devastating famine of 1770, which killed nearly 10 million people in regions of Bengal, Bihar and modern day Bangladesh, Warren Hastings, then Governor-General of India, ordered the construction of this beehive shaped structure for the purpose of storing grains for the British Army.
9) Jalmandir Temple
Pawapuri or Pava is a holy site for Jains located in the Nalanda district. Around 500 BCE the 24th Tirthankara Mahavira is believed to have attained Nirvana at this place. Also known as Apapuri meaning ‘no sin place’ is one of the most sought after destinations for the Jains. This cremation ground was considered very auspicious by the devotees and they collected soil from this site as holy relic.
10) Mahatma Gandhi Setu
It connects Patna in the south to Hajipur in the north of Bihar and is one of the longest river bridges in India. The bridge consists 45 intermediate spans of 121.065 metres (397.19 ft) each and a span of 65.530 metres (214.99 ft) at each end. The cantilever segmental construction method was adopted to construct this mega bridge.

Valmiki nagar tiger reserve ( Balmiki nagar) is the only national park of bihar.
If You want to beautify the beauty of nature, then this place is absolutely suitable for you. Valmiki National Park Is situated in the northern region of west champaran district of bihar. It is near nepal border and about 100 KM from district headquarter bettiah .
Valmiki nagar is small town with very few population, valmiki tiger reserve was established in the year 1990. Here you can see the Tiger, Wolf, Deer, Leopard, Cheetal, Sambhar, Nilgai, python etc.
There are many old temple and monuments like Someshvar dham, Madanpur devi sthan, Sahodra mata, Nardevi mandir, Triveni dham, Saint Valmiki ashram, laxman jhula etc. Here there is a river also - which is known to gandak baraj. This river connects border of India and Nepal.
Bihar govt is trying hard to attract tourists. River rafting, elephant safari, tree house and many more facilities are being provided to the tourists.
There is a proper time to come here from November to March. There is a heavy rain in the summer, there is a lot of mud on the road you can face trouble.
Nearest railway station is Bagha which is 42 km away from here.you can also easily reach by road. Which is located just 80 km away from the district headquarter.
Nearest airport is Patna jai Prakash Narayan airport, wehich is situated 250km away from valmiki nagar

100 वर्ग किलो मीटर में फैला बाल्मीकि राष्ट्रीय उद्यान की स्थापना वर्ष 1990 ईं में हुयी थी । यहाँ पर आप बाघ, भेड़िये , हिरण , तेंदुआ , नीलगाय , चीतल, सांभर , अजगर इत्यादि जानवरो को देख सकते है ।

Buddha Stupa | Kesaria | The largest Stupa In the World | Bihar | Soory in English
Kesariya stupa is situated in the East Champaran district of Bihar, India. Kesariya serves as the place of the largest Buddhist stupa in the world.it is located at a distance of about 110 km from Patna,
the capital of Bihar.
The stupa is believed to date back to somewhere between 200 AD and 750 AD may have been associated with gautam buddha.
This remarkable structure was discovered by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in 1998.
The stupa is the largest in the world, with a height of 104 ft, and attracts lots of Buddhist pilgrims from around the world.
The stupa is rare example of Buddhist architecture and archaeological preservation.

विश्व का सबसे ऊंचा बौद्ध स्तूप
Kesariya Stupa is a Buddhist stupa in Kesariya , located at a distance of 110 kilometres (68 mi) from
Patna , in the Champaran (east) district of Bihar , India . Kesaria Stupa has a circumference of almost 1,400 feet (430 m) and raises to a height of about 104 feet (32 m).
भगवान बुद्ध जब महापरिनिर्वाण ग्रहण करने
कुशीनगर जा रहे थे तो वह एक दिन के लिए केसरिया में ठहरें थे। जिस स्थान पर पर वह ठहरें थे उसी जगह पर कुछ समय बाद सम्राट अशोक ने स्मरण के रूप में स्तूप का निर्माण करवाया था। इसे विश्व का सबसे बड़ा स्तूप माना जाता है। वर्तमान में यह स्तूप 1400 फीट के क्षेत्र में फैला हुआ है और इसकी ऊंचाई 51 फीट है। अलेक्जेंडर कनिंघम के अनुसार मूल स्तूप 70 फीट ऊंचा था।
यह बिहार के चंपारण जिला में केसरिया नामक स्थान पर स्थित है।

Kesaria Stupa Vlog | Wonders of India
One of the Largest Monument of world Located in Kesariya, about 55 km from Vaishali, in East Champaran District, Kesariya Stupa is a terraced circular Buddhist stupa of bricks laid in a very thin layer of mud, mortar and capped by a large cylindrical drum of solid brick work. It consists of five huge terraces, each enshrining life size images of Lord Buddha and 120 feet high. A giant manadala can be seen at the top. Life size images of Buddha found within the cells of the stupa representing Buddhas various postures. It commemorates the spot where Buddha rested on his final journey to Kushinagar from Vaishali. It is considered the biggest Buddhist stupa in the world.
