The beginning of a long and amazing voyage across Greece, a dream come true. From Sarande, Albania, I caught a mid day ferry to the port town of Corfu of the island of the same name, Corfu, my first island. The first few hours of my arrival was spent walking around the former Venetian town and old fortress. Due to budget reasons and the fact that high season just started, cheap accommodation was only found in the north of the island near the town of Sidari.
After hitchhiking much of the Balkans, I figured why not try hitchhiking the island. I found myself catching rides over to Palaiokastritsa, a beautiful beach area with a small fortress. After a nice swim, I made it over to a local cliffside bar to jump from before making it back to Sidari's Canal d'amor to catch the sunset and take in the fact that I made it. :)
After a successful acceptance to stay with a couchsurfing host on Paxos island, I made my way down to my next island. Paxos is one of my favorite islands as it's the perfect place to slow down time and simply relax. I spent most of my time in the port Gaios, Loggos, and the sea town in the north Lakka. I also managed to take the short boat ride down to Voutoumi beach on Antipaxos, one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever swam in, cave hopping and soaking under the Ionian sun.
These island are the most perfect start to an amazinf two months in my dream country. From here, continues my voyage across north east Greece. :) Cheers

PAXOS & ANTIPAXOS ISLAND l GREECE. BEST TIME & TOURISM
Paxi or Paxoi is the smallest island group within the Ionian Islands. The largest islands are Paxos and nearby Antipaxos. Antipaxos is famous for its wine and two of the finest sand beaches in the Ionian Sea. The main town of Paxoi is Gaios. Paxos is an island of endless olive groves and Anti Paxos one large vineyard.
LOCATION
Paxos can be found 14 kilometers south of Corfu, 20 kilometers to the east is Parga on the mainland of Greece. And just eight kilometers long by three kilometers wide.
HOT TO GO
There is no airport on Paxos. The port of Gaios receives ferries, hydrofoils, the sea taxi and the hydro plane from Corfu. Travelers may fly to Corfu from the majority of European airports or even through Athens airport after which may take the ferry in to Paxos. Furthermore, there are usually sea planes within Corfu which might be an exciting technique to get to Paxos. Upon arriving at Corfu, site visitors can hire a taxi.
TOURISM
This island is truly beautiful, with scenery that makes it an artists paradise, its clear aquamarine sea and pebble beaches that have to be seen to be believed. Paxos is not just small in size, it can also feel very much like an island in miniature. Just three small coastal resorts, at Gaios, Loggos and Lakka.
BEST TIME TO GO
The climate is mild and rainy winters, and hot and sunny summers. The average temperature of January is 9.5 °C (49 °F) that of August is 25 °C (77 °F). The best time to go to Paxos, for a beach holiday, goes from June to August, although the weather is often still good in the first half of September. For excursions in the island, you can go from mid-April to mid-June, to avoid the heat that can occur in high summer.

Paxos, holidays in Greece
Although a small island on which to do nothing much it is probably one of the best places to relax and unwind. One of a cluster of picturesque Ionian islets and only reached by sea, it lies reassuringly off the beaten tourist track. Holidays in Paxos exude an air of quiet luxury and tranquillity. Somewhere between buying local fresh bread, snorkelling from a bobbing boat and strolling down to dine at a waterside taverna, this magical location will weave its spell on all who visit.

One of the most beautiful beaches in the world in the Ionian Sea, with refreshing crystal clear blue water and the pure meaning of paradise.

Crete, holidays in Greece
No place in this part of the world changes with the seasons quite as this destination does. In spring, snow caps the White Mountains and orchards are awash with citrus and almond blossom. It is also a time of festivities with the colourful Greek Orthodox Easter celebrated across this passionately traditional land making it a very special time for holidays in Crete.
