Travel France - Visit Pont du Gard, South of France
Take a tour of Pont du Gard in France -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
When the citizens of ancient Rome needed bath and fountain water, the Pont du Gard was built to deliver it to their doors.
This simple, yet impressive aqueduct bridge crosses over the Gard River in southern France.
Rows of arches carried millions of gallons of water per day to many private homes in France.
Arch technology was revolutionary at the time of construction, and the bridge remains a structural marvel.
The aqueduct was kept in use as a toll-bridge well after the fall of Rome.
It has been one of France's most famous and visited tourist destinations for centuries.
Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a monument to a civilization long gone.
GIROLATA: A SECLUDED COVE IN CORSICA - Travel Corsica by foot - Vlog #20
Welcome to our hiking journey around the island of Corsica. We came to this beautiful island because it's one of the wildest places in Europe and it's full of remote and challenging hiking trails. We'll be documenting our journey and publishing vlogs as we go. Come with us as we hike on the GR 20, the Mare e Monte, the Mare e Mare, and other lesser known trails. Along the way we'll be stopping to sample the local culture, cuisine, and wine. We're in no rush, so we'll be soaking up the sun on the gorgeous beaches and bouldering the rocks whenever we can.

Many people in North America don't know much about Corsica, but they should because it's awesome. Corsica is the birthplace of Napoleon, and known as The Island of Beauty. After spending a few days here, or watching a couple of our vlogs you will understand why it gets this name. Corsica is vastly different from the other island in the Mediterranean, it is basically a mountain range in the sea, with a rugged coastline and beautiful beaches. The island has been continually inhabited since the Mesolithic era (11 660 BP). These early settlers had a hand in creating the trails that we follow on our journey.

Travel France - Visiting the Town Hall of Rennes
Take a tour of Rennes Town Hall in Rennes, France -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
A Baroque structure sits in the center of the old town of Rennes, France.
Rennes Town Hall, built right after the Great Fire of Rennes in 1720, attests to the city's rich long history.
The town hall hosts government services and once held the offices of law and science until the construction of the Palace of Arts.
The hall's north wing houses a war memorial and the south wing exhibits a row of rose-colored marble columns.
The town hall's signature clock tower conjoins the wing structures which make up the building.
A highlight of the city which dates to the first century, Rennes Town Hall offers a glimpse into the city's past.
Travel France - Exploring the Historical Village of Collonges-la-Rouge
Take a tour of French Village of Collonges-la-Rouge in Collonge-la-Rouge, France -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
If you look best in red, you may want to visit the French village of Collonges-la-Rouge.
Almost all of the buildings in this small town in the Limousin region are built with local red sandstone.
History traces the town back to the 8th century, and it has since been a highly desirable destination site.
The town has gone through various stages, including once being a pilgrim destination and a stone quarry.
The most beautiful villages of France association was created in this ethereal town, an admittedly proper place to begin this prestigious honor.
With local help, the town was given the title of historical monument in 1942.

This fabulous island is also an ideal destination for a yacht. Whether you wish to enjoy the sun-kissed stretches of white sand, explore dramatic inland waterfalls and rivers, or go scuba diving and snorkeling, our yacht charter itinerary in Corsica offers something for everyone.
Day 1: Ajaccio
Our Corsica sailing adventure starts from Ajaccio which is the largest city in Corsica and the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. Feel free to explore the city’s landmarks including the 16th-century Notre-Dame Cathedral, Fesch Museum, and Maison Bonaparte before we embark on our journey. On the first day of our yacht charter trip, we will visit all the picturesque areas around Ajaccio and anchor at nearby coves and small inlets.
Day 2: Cargèse
Our first destination outside Ajaccio is the small village of Cargèse that offers plenty of water sports including scuba diving, jet-skiing, wind-surfing, and swimming. Admire the stunning rock formations and go sunbathing on a picturesque sandy beach. In the evening, you can watch the sunset and have dinner at the excellent Bel'mare Hotel. Before we leave, make sure to visit both Latin and the Greek Church in Cargèse.
Day 3: Golfe de Porto / Girolata
On day 3, we will be sailing down the gorgeous west coast of Corsica and along Golfe de Porto until we reach the protected port of Girolata. Being a part of the magnificent Scandola Nature reserve, this area offers excellent anchorage and boasts a variety of wildlife, as well as crystal-clear blue waters. The Genoese tower stands above the village and is definitely worth visiting. Despite its small size, this village has plenty of basic facilities for tourists, as well as a couple of cool restaurants.
Day 4: Calvi
After a nice breakfast on the yacht, it’s time to sail to Calvi, a charming coastal town with cute seafront lined houses and a majestic citadel. The town’s luxury yacht-filled harbor has all the necessary facilities to make your stay here relaxing. It is also just minutes away from the lovely beach of L’Ile Rousse where you can go swimming. In the afternoon, walk along the beautiful boardwalk or climb up to the citadel for an amazing view of Calvi.
Day 5: Golfe de La Revallata / Girolata
On day 5, we are departing early in the morning to the Gulf de La Revellata which is an ideal destination for water activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, and swimming. After a couple of hours relaxing on the beach, we will sail to Girolata to explore all the deserted creeks and small caves. Thanks to the volcanic origin of the island, expect to see plenty of breathtaking landscapes!
Day 6: Capo Rosso / Cala Di Palù
The sixth day of your Corsica yacht charter includes a visit to Capo Rosso and Cala di Palu. This area is perfect for diving, and there are dozens of local dive schools that rent all the necessary equipment. For dinner, we can go to the lovely Hotel des Roches Rouges that offers both local and international cuisine and boats magnificent views from their outdoor veranda.
Day 7: Bay of Sagone
No Corsica yacht charter vacation is complete without visiting the picturesque Bay of Sagone. Dotted with dozens of coves, the Bay of Sagone is home to a number of secluded sandy beaches where you can find some peace and quiet. Water activities such as windsurfing and scuba diving for all diver levels are extremely popular here.
Day 8: Ajaccio
We are ending our 8 day Corsica yacht charter at our departure point, the charming Ajaccio. Consider spending a day here to explore archaeological sites, cute hilltop towns, and an abundance of excellent restaurants and bars.
Mediterranean Cruise, Villefrance and Nice
5 Nights Western Mediterranean Cruise onboard Liberty of the Seas, April 2013.
At 10 o'clock we went down to the tender deck - here was a long line and it took almost an hour before we were inside Villefrance.
Outside the harbor was Sovereign, which today is owned by Pullman Tours, but Sovereign was the ship we sailed on our very first cruise in 1996 - back then it was owned by Royal Caribbean.
On arrival in the Villefrance we went up to the center of town and took bus # 100 to Nice
- a trip of about 15 minutes to € 1,00.
In Nice, we walked around the old town, past the flower market and along the beach.
Back in the old town we found a cozy cafe - Blandine, 8 Rue du Pont Vieux (lescauseriesdeblandine.com/). Here we ate lunch.
After walking through the old town, we took the bus #100 back to Villefrance.
We walked around the town before we took a tender back to Liberty.
