A short aerial tour of Netley Abbey which is a ruined late medieval monastery in the village of Netley near Southampton in Hampshire, England. The abbey was founded in 1239 as a house for monks of the austere Cistercian order. Despite royal patronage, Netley was never rich, produced no influential scholars nor churchmen, and its nearly 300-year history was quiet. The monks were best known to their neighbours for the generous hospitality they offered to travellers on land and sea.

My Dad's visit to RAF Honington.wmv

My father served in the RAF Regiment during it's very early conception years during WW2 and there after until 1969. In all he served 28 years with a short break after the war to tend to his farm. On 15th July 2011 he was a guest of honour at RAF Honington. He was flown in by my brother David and was given a warm welcome by Group Captain Andrew Hall before being given a tour of the RAF Regiment museum which is normally closed this time of year. He was also an honoured guest at a passing out parade of RAF Regiment recruits who had recently finished their training.
A special thank you goes to my brother David for arranging this, and an extra special thank you goes to the Station Commander Group Captain Andrew Hall for allowing the visit to take place, Mike Liston who had a big hand in organising the visit, Wing Commander Gus Cabre (SMO) who dealt with the airfield side of things, and Flying Officer Ed Beckengham who looked after us whilst we were there. Last but not least a special thank you goes to everyone at RAF Honington, not just for allowing us to take part in their day, but for all the hard work they do on our behalf. True true true hero's.
