WELCOME TO GUNA, M.P.
Guna (Gwalior United Nation Army; Dr Rajiv Dua) was part of the ancient Avanti Kingdomfounded by Chand Pradyota Mahesena. Later Shishusangh added the kingdom of Avant, which included Guna to the growing empire of Magadha.
In the early 18th century, Guna was conquered by the Maratha leader Ramoji Rao Scindia, and remained part of the Kingdom of Gwalior until shortly after Indian independence. Guna was administered as part of the kingdom's Isagarh District. In 1897 the Indian Midland Railway constructed a rail route passing through Guna.
After India gained independence, Guna became part of the new state of Madhya Bharat on 28 May 1948 as one of its 16 districts. On November 1, 1956, Madhya Bharat was merged into Madhya Pradesh state.

It is a hilly state in northeast India, bordered on 3 sides by Bangladesh and home to a diverse mix of tribal cultures and religious groups. In the capital Agartala, the imposing Ujjayanta Palace is set among Mughal gardens, and Gedu Mia’s Mosque has white marble domes and towers. South of the city, Neermahal summer palace sits in the middle of Lake Rudrasagar and blends Hindu and Islamic architectural styles. Here is a list of top 10 places to visit in Tripura.
1) Ujjayanta Palace, Agartala
The palace was constructed between 1899 and 1901 by the Tripura king, Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya, and stands on the banks of a small lake surrounded by Mughal gardens. It was the home of the ruling Manikya dynasty until the Tripura`s accession to India in October 1949. The palace was purchased from the royal family by the Tripura government in 1972-73 for Rs. 2.5 million, and was used to house the state legislative assembly until July 2011. Ujjayanta Palace is now a state museum and it showcases the lifestyle, arts, culture, tradition and utility crafts of communities residing in northeast India.
2) Neermahal, Melaghar
Known as ‘lake palace’ of Tripura, Neer-Mahal was constructed as a summer residence. It was Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur’s idea to build a palace in the beautiful Rudrasagar lake and in 1921 he accredited the British company Martin and Burns to construct the palace for him. The company took nine years to complete the work.
3) Sipahijola Wildlife Sanctuary, Bishalgarh
It is a woodland with an artificial lake and natural botanical and zoological gardens. It is famous for its clouded leopard enclosures. The sanctuary contains a variety of birds, primates, and other animals. The terrain is green throughout the year and the weather is temperate except for the two humid summer months of March and April. It gives shelter to about 150 species of birds and the unique bespectacled monkey, Phayre's langur.
4) Tripura Sundari Temple, Udaipur
Popularly known as Matabari, crowns in a small hillock and is served by the red-robed priests who traditionally, minister to the mother goddess Tripura Sundari. Considered to be one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, consists of a square type sanctum of the typical Bengali hut. It is believed that Sati's right foot fell here during Lord Shiva's Dance.
5) Mahamuni, Manubankul village
A beautiful pagoda was also built at Mahamuni. A famous week long fair is held every year in the month of March-April. The Temple attracts thousands of Buddhist and non Buddhist pilgrims from every corner of the state as well as from neighbouring countries like, Myanmar, Thailand, Srilanka and Bangladesh.
6) Gunabati Temples,Udaipur
It reveals that it was built in the name of Her Highness Maharani Gunabati (Wife of Maharaja Govinda Manikya), in 1668 A.D. The two other temples also bear contemporary look but their actual history is still to be unveiled. Architecture of these temples resembles other contemporary temples of Tripura except that the topmost parts are without Stupa.
7) Unakoti, Kailasahar
It means one less than a crore and it is said that these many rock cut carvings are available here. As per Hindu mythology, when Lord Shiva was going to Kashi along with one crore gods and goddesses he made a night halt at this location. He asked all the gods and goddesses to wake up before sun rise and proceed for Kashi.It is said that in the morning, except Shiva himself, no one else could get up so Lord Shiva set out for Kashi himself cursing the others to become stone images. As a result we have one less than a crore stone images and carvings at Unakoti.
8) Heritage Park, Agartala
Entrance to the park has an imposing gate, which depicts the rich tribal and nontribal cultural heritage of Tripura. The park has three parts, viz. (i) mini-Tripura located in about three acre of land at the entrance (ii) central area being raised as natural forest and (iii) a plain table land with medicinal plants, herbs and shrubs. There is also a walking track of 1.1 kilometer running along the periphery of the park.
9) Kamala Sagar Lake
A vast lake on the edge of the border with Bangladesh was excavated by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in 15th century. On the river bank of kamalasagar, there is a famous temple of Goddess Kali dating back to 16th century. It is one of the excellent picnic spots in the state with scenic beauty. A mela is held here every October during the Navaratri festival.
10) Jampui Hill
The average altitude of the hill range is approximately 1000 meters above sea level, The view of rising and setting sun from various view points in Jampui hills is a wonderful sight for the tourists. This hill has 11 villages which are occupied by various tribes that gives tourists a chance to see preserved life and tradition of tribal people.

Kodaikanal is a city near Palani in the hills of the Dindigul district in the state of Tamil Nadu, Many young people come for bike trips and leisure. It is also famous for home made chocolates and eucalyptus oil.
Bryant Park: Just east of the lake and 500 metres (1,600 ft) from the bus stand is a well maintained 20.5 acres (8.3 ha) botanical garden. A large section is dedicated to nearly 740 varieties of roses.
Coaker's Walk, 500 metres (1,600 ft) from the bus-stand, constructed by Lt. Coaker in 1872, is a 1-kilometre (3,300 ft) paved pedestrian path running along the edge of steep slopes on the southern side of Kodai.
Green Valley View (formerly called Suicide Point), 5.5 kilometres (3.4 mi) from the bus-stand and near the golf course, has a panoramic view of the plains and a sheer drop of 1,500 metres (4,900 ft) overlooking the Vaigai Dam to the south. The stairway leading up to it is highly commercialized and lined with rows of shops to tempt tourists.[27]
Pine forests: In 1906, with a view to growing valuable timber, H.D. Bryant started the Kodaikanal pine plantations in the south-west of Kodaikanal
Pillar Rocks, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from the bus-stand, is a set of three giant rock pillars which stand 122 metres (400 ft) high.[32] Managed by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, The viewpoint can be crowded but is not commercialized. There is an excellent public garden adjacent to the viewpoint.
Guna caves,[33] made popular by the Tamil movie Gunaa, previously called Devil's Kitchen, are deep bat-infested chambers between the three gigantic boulders that are the Pillar Rocks. The deep narrow ravines of the caves are now closed to public due to the deaths of twelve youths there.[34] These dangerous caves are highly protected now, and tourists can see sections of the cave system from afar.[35] In the late 1970s the inside of the caves was well photographed.[36]
Silver Cascade, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Kodaikanal at a wide bend in the long and winding Laws Ghat Road, at altitude 1,800 metres (5,900 ft), is a 55-metre (180 ft) waterfall formed from the outflow of Kodaikanal Lake.[37] The water quality is reportedly poor and not good enough for bathing.[38] This impressive waterfall is a popular stop for first-time visitors. There are a few souvenir and fruit vendors and many monkeys here. There is also a smaller but more serene waterfall below the bridge which crosses the stream here.
Dolphin's Nose, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from the bus stand, is a flat rock projecting over a chasm 6,600 feet (2,000 m) deep. It is an undisturbed area 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) down a steep rocky trail beginning soon after Pambar Bridge. Views of steep rocky escarpments rising from the plains can be seen. The old village of Vellagavi can be reached through a rugged bridle path here. A short paved walkway leads from the road here to Pambar Falls (which is also locally addressed as 'Liril Falls' after the famous Liril Soap advertisement filmed in 1985).
Kurinji Andavar Murugan temple, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from the bus-stand, is famous for its Kurinji flower which blossoms in the area only once every 12 years. The deity here is called Sri Kurinji Easwaran, who is Lord Murugan. This temple was built in 1936 by a European woman, who on coming to Ceylon, converted to Hinduism. She changed her name to Leelavathi and married Ponnambalam Ramanathan. She is also known as Lady Ramanathan. This temple was handed over to Arulmighu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Thiru Kovil, Palani by Devi Prasad Bhaskaran (also known as Padmini, niece and adopted daughter of S Natesan Pillai, son in-law of Lady Ramanathan) and her husband R. Bhaskaran.
Berijam Lake is surrounded by nature at a distance of around 20 km from Kodaikanal. Boating is prohibited as the lake is a source of water for villages. Forest department permission is required and a limited number of vehicles (up to 80) are allowed to enter the forest area where the lake is situated. Entry is restricted into the Berijam Lake area to between 9.30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Bison, deer, panthers and snakes are often spotted in this area. The fire tower, Silent Valley, Medicine Forest, and Lake View are other attractions around the lake.

Ujjain is the largest city in Ujjain district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is the administrative center of Ujjain district and Ujjain division.
An ancient city situated on the eastern bank of the Kshipra River, Ujjain was the most prominent city on the Malwa plateau of central India for much of its history. It emerged as the political centre of central India around 600 BCE. It was the capital of the ancient Avanti kingdom, one of the sixteen mahajanapadas. It remained an important political, commercial and cultural centre of central India until early 19th century, when the British administrators decided to develop Indore as an alternative to it. Ujjain continues to be an important place of pilgrimage for Shaivites, Vaishnavites and followers of Shakta.Ujjain has been selected as one of the hundred Indian cities to be developed as a smart city under PM Narendra Modi's flagship Smart Cities Mission.
Geography
Ujjain is located in the west-central part of India, and is north of the upper limit of the Vindhya mountain ranges. Located on the Malwa plateau, it is higher than the north Indian plains and the land rises towards the Vindhya Range to the south. Ujjain's coordinate are 23°10′N 75°46′E with average elevation of 494m metres (1620 ft).Region is an extension of the Deccan Traps, formed between 60 and 68 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous period. The city is on the river bank of Shipra which falls into nearby flowing Chambal.
Railway
Ujjain Junction is the main railway station of Ujjain, and it is directly or indirectly well-connected to all the major railway stations in India. It lies on the Ratlam–Bhopal, Indore–Nagda and Guna–Khandwa route. To the west it is connected to Ratlam Junction, to the north it is connected with Nagda Junction, to the east it is connected with Maksi Junction, Bhopal Junction, and to the south it is connected to Indore Junction BG, Dewas Junction.

Mahakaleshwar of Ujjayan is known among the twelve celebrated Jyotirlingas in India. the glory of Mahakaleshwar Temple has been vividly described in various Puranas Starting with Kalidas, many Snaskrit poets have tradition of Mahakala in the minds of the people is eternal. Ujjain used to be the centre-point for the calculation of Indian time and Mahakala was considered as the distinctive presiding deity of Ujjain. This Temple has been timeously renovated through successive historical epochs-Shung, Kushna, Satavahana, Gupta, Parihar, Paramara nad comparatively modern period of Marathas. Reconstruction of the present temple structure was done at the intance of Ramchandra Baba Shenvi, a Subedar of Malwa under Ranoji Scindia. Renovation and carving better facilities in the temple have regularly been looked after in the contemporary period also. The idol of Mahakaleshwar is known to be dakshina-murti or south faced. The unique distinction of dakshina-murti worship, upnel in the tantric tradition is realised only in Mahakaleshwar among the twelve Jyotirling of India. Like the Mahakala Shrine installed in the upper sanctum of Omkareshwar Temple, the idol of Omkareshwar Shiva is consecrated in the upper sanctum of this temple. Nagachandreshwar image on the this storey is opened for darshan on Nagpanchmi day only. Mahakala worship by Vikramaditya and Bhoja is well-known buth the temple has continued to receive Royal grants for its puja-expenses even in the Mougal period. Berijam Lake (Kodaikanal) - A Beautiful and a Must visit Place unexplored by many people
Berijam Lake is a reservoir near Kodaikanal town in Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu, South India. It is at the old site of Fort Hamilton, in the upper Palani hills. Periyakulam town, 18.7 kilometres (11.6 mi) to the SE, gets its public drinking water from the lake. The lake’s water quality is excellent.
The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has restricted entry into the Berijam Lake area to between 9.30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the general public. Entry permits are issued at the Forestry Department Office in Kodaikanal. Only a limited number of visitors are allowed in the park each day. There is a forest check–post which prohibits unauthorized entry through the road leading to Berijam Lake.
There was originally a swamp here known as the Berijam swamp.The previous existence here of a large lake, evidence of which was visible nearby, was first recorded in 1864 by Colonel Douglas Hamilton of the 21st Regiment of the Madras Native Infantry.
