They contain some of the oldest surviving Hindu temples and iconography in India. They are the only site that can be verifiably associated with a Gupta period monarch from its inscriptions. One of India's most important archaeological sites, the Udayagiri hills and its caves are protected monuments managed by the Archaeological Survey of India. We traveled to an offbeat area in Madhya Pradesh, we stayed in a village named Udaypur, is a village near Khandwa. It is on the border of Yawal Wildlife sanctuary but does not exist on google maps.

We stayed at Radha Didi's House, slept under the open sky full of stars, local food, and great people. You can hike to the nearby lake as well as the infamous Shiva Temple.

If you are looking for village life, do visit this place in Monsoon. We are also working on initialising the rural tourism in this area as we can see a tremendous potential.

Khimlasa Fort, Madhya Pradesh

For the history lovers Khimlasa Fort is wonderful place to visit. Khimlasa Fort is situated in the sagar ditrict of Madhya Pradesh. This is the ancient fort and revealing the glorious past of the various dynasties which ruled here. The fort walls are built of rubble. This fort was built in the 17th centuary A.D. Khimlasa is said to have been founded by a Mohammedan noble in the Raisen sarkar of the Malwa subha. In the centre of the town is a bastion fort of which the gateways alone form an interesting feature. One one side of the fort is the dargah of the Panch Pirs, which is the centre of devotion of many Islamic devotees. The carvings on the walls of this dargah is very graceful. Nagina Mahal is the other stunning structure in the fort which deserves a special mention, but now in dilapitated condition. Two stepwells-Big & Small (Devala in local language), Baradari, Old office buildings and Three ancient temples of Shiva - Ganesh - Hanuman are the additional historical places, tourist can visit.
Though the fort is in a ramshackle condition, it is through the initiative of Archeological Survey of India, Bhopal Circle that it is regaining its lost charm.
