'Blue King' on the Dartmouth Steam Railway - Summer 2018
Visited the DSR twice over the past month to video
6023 King Edward II
The locomotive visited the DSR for the summer season before it returned home to Didcot Railway Centre.
The first visit was on Thursday 30th August when the loco shared the days running with London Transport Pannier LT94 also visiting the line for the summer season.
This smaller loco made dramatic viewing as it climbed out of Goodrington station.
I filmed the Blue King facing toward Kingswear on the climb to Churston.
My second visit was on Saturday 29th September where the loco had been turned to face Paignton.
On the last weekend, the King hauled 11 coaches incl. observation coach plus Class 25 Diesel at the rear. A total of twelve!
Something I didn't want to miss.
I wasn't disappointed either.
Although locations to video are fewer in this direction, I still managed two classic shots with twelve on.
One at Galmpton departing Greenway Halt & the other departing Kingswear with the final train of the day.
Just listen to this single chimney King attack the climb to Churston.
Awesome!
Turn up the volume to get the best effect.
I will miss this great engine as I have videoed it on the SVR & GWR preserved Railways during 2018.
I just hope to see it again in a few years, again in Blue, on the mainline perhaps?
