Explore FAROE ISLANDS
/// English subtitles available ///
Visit the Faroe Islands and explore Europe's best kept secret.
The World's most appealing Destination The islands received top marks for its preservation of nature, historic architecture and national pride.
Less is more
The lesson to be learned from the Faroe Islands is quality over quantity. National Geographic named the archipelago the best island destination of 2015, citing its commitment to maintaining its traditions and way of life without standing in the way of progress. The Faroese haven't bowed to the pressure of mass tourism, although it's the islands' second largest industry, and visitors are expected to endure stormy seas and unpredictable weather just as the locals would. Careful maintenance of a traditional lifestyle and consequent dedication to sustainability are things to admire in this cluster of islands in the Atlantic.

Most of the people are postponing their plans for life, while it’s slipping through their fingers. When there is less work, when there is more money, when kids grow up, when we pay a mortgage, when we buy all of the rubbish we need or when it's time. But the world is not waiting for anyone and the person you think you are, will die one day. Remember that when your life will be asking you, whether you’ll go for it or not, do it and go at full throttle. Because there is not much to be missed, except for time. I cannot tell you what will happen, but I know for sure that if you do not try, nothing will happen at all. So live and risk everything. Because this is life and there’s nothing more left here for you.

FAROE WAY: The art of survival in the Faroe Islands | Documentary 2019 | PL, ENG, RUS subtitles
A documentary story about the inhabitants of the Faroe Islands, their struggles with difficult living conditions, clashes with nature, ocean, climate, isolation and hunger. It’s also a history of a struggle for the survival of Faroese – a language which is used only by nearly 80,000 people today. The story of a state whose origins come from small communities of isolated villages, and whose urban solutions are now a model for the rest of the world.

Benny goes Iceland #4: Farör Inseln / Faroe Islands
On our roadtrip from Switzerland to Iceland we are now on the Faroe Islands. There you find no offroad tracks (for that you have to wait until Iceland), but beautiful landscapes. Its a 3 days stay on the islands, until the ferry continues to Iceland. Enough time to collect some nice impressions.
Faroe Islands: Sandoy, the Sand Island
Sandoy, the Sand Island, Faroe Islands.
Immediately south of Streymoy's southern point, Sandoy is the first of the five southern islands. As it's name suggests, Sandoy is known for its sweeping sandy beaches and, accordingly, this is one of the most gentle of all the islands. But also here there are truly dramatic cliffs, clearly visible in all their majesty approaching the village of Dalur.
The largest population center on the island is the village of Sandur with a population of about 600. Other settlements include Skarvanes, Skopun, Skálavík, Húsavík and Dalur.

Faroe Islands: Eysturoy
The wonderful nature of Eysturoy, Faroe Islands. Sea cliffs and sea stacks, canyons and gorges, fjords and inlets, fishing villages and massive mountains are the characteristics of this wonderful island, the second largest of Faroes archipelago.
Eysturoy, East island, is the second-largest of the Faroe Islands. It is separated by a narrow sound from the main island of Streymoy. This island is extremely rugged, with 66 separate mountain peaks, including Slættaratindur, the highest peak in the archipelago.
Eysturoy is connected with Streymoy via a road bridge over the sound. This bridge is humorously referred to by islanders as the only bridge over the Atlantic ocean.
Sites of interest on Eysturoy include the villages of Eiði and Gjógv, the latter having a stunning natural port in a rock column. Off the northern tip of the island are the basalt sea stacks Risin og Kellingin, the Giant and the Witch.
