Iitti is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Kymenlaakso region. The municipality has a population of 6,786 and covers an area of 687.09 square kilometres of which 97.27 km2 is water. The population density is 11.51 inhabitants per square kilometre . Neighbour municipalities are Heinola, Kouvola, Lapinjärvi, Lahti and Orimattila. In 1990, the center of Iitti, which surrounds the old parish church, was voted the most attractive kirkonkylä in Finland. The municipality is unilingually Finnish.

    Saimaa is a lake in southeastern Finland. At approximately 4,400 square kilometres , it is the largest lake in Finland, and the fourth largest natural freshwater lake in Europe. It was formed by glacial melting at the end of the Ice Age. Major towns on the lakeshore include Lappeenranta, Imatra, Savonlinna, Mikkeli, Varkaus, and Joensuu. The Vuoksi River flows from Saimaa to Lake Ladoga. Most of the lake is spotted with islands, and narrow canals divide the lake in many parts, each having their own names . Thus, Saimaa exhibits all major types of lake in Finland at different levels of eutropification.
