Huge thank you to Fadhlur for reaching out and taking us on a Malaysian street food tour of Kuala Lumpur. It was an amazing day, and I have so much love to Malaysia as it was one of the first countries where I started making street food videos - as you’ll see in the video!
Ok, here are all the street food stalls and restaurants we ate at on this tour:
Mansion Tea Stall
The thing to order here is the roti canai special, roti that chopped up, then doused in a variety of curry sauces, sambal, and a few soft boiled eggs. It’s a perfect way to begin your day in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 2.80 RM ($0.68) per plate
Nasi Lemak Tanglin
Nasi lemak is often considered the national food of Malaysia, and there are plenty of places to eat it throughout Kuala Lumpur. Having been around since 1948, Nasi Lemak Tanglin is a place I had wanted to go for a while. It was overall very good, with a nice laid back atmosphere and surrounded by nature. Nasi lemak - about 8 RM ($1.94) per plate
Ikan Bakar Seri Melaka (Jalan Bellamy)
One of my favorite places to eat ikan bakar, grilled fish, is on Jalan Bellamy. Back in 2012, I had to hike over a highway and climb a few fences to get there as I was only on foot. In this video, I’m a bit older, and we had a car! The ikan bakar was just as good as I remember it. Total price - 68 RM ($16.51) for everything
Sri Ganapathi Mess
One of the best things about Malaysian food is its incredible diversity, including Malay, Chinese, and Indian food. Banana leaf south Indian food is very popular and I was recommended to try Sri Ganapathi Mess, a restaurant tucked away into a home. An amazing south Indian food experience in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 59 RM ($14.32) for 4 people
Kedai Kopi Lai Foong
Finally, another dish that many had recommended me was the unique clam noodles in Kuala Lumpur Chinatown at the legendary Kedai Kopi Lai Foong. It was delicious, and a perfect way to end an amazing Malaysian street food tour in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 10 RM ($2.43) per bowl
Again, thank you to Oh My Media Malaysia for taking us around:

During my trip to Malaysia, this was definitely one of the best meals, if not one of the best meals of my life!
Itik Salai Masthar - When I visited Kuala Lumpur, I reached out on social media asking where to eat the best Malaysian food. A few of your recommended a restaurant known as Itik Salai Masthar, famous for their Malaysian style smoked duck curry.
The display of ducks hanging over the grill was enough to force me to go straight to the restaurant without even thinking about it. We got there early in order to film some of the ducks before they opened - and I’m glad we arrived early because they were all so nice and showed us the entire process of how they make the duck curry. The ducks and meats are smoked, then chopped up into bite sized pieces, then cooked in a spicy coconut milk curry called Masak Lemak Cili Padi. One of the key herbal ingredients is turmeric leaf.
If you’re looking for some of the best Malaysian food in Kuala Lumpur (it’s actually just outside of KL), go straight to Itik Salai Masthar, it will blow your taste buds!
Total price - 50 RM ($12.15) for everything

Eating KAJANG SATAY- SATAY CRAWL in Kajang & Kuala Lumpur - MALAYSIAN STREET FOOD
Subscribe for more food and travel videos:
When you mention satay to anyone in the Klang Valley the word Kajang will almost always follow. Kajang satay is famous for having chunkier bits of meat than the norm, its fragrant and distinctive marinade which is a mix of turmeric, lemongrass and other aromatics and for its peanut sauce which features a dollop of sambal or chilli sauce.
In this video we head out to Kajang and embark on a mini satay crawl! Malaysian street food here we come! First stop is Willy Satay- an eatery parked alongside a busy highway as part of the food court Ramal Food Junction. The satay here indeed feature generous cuts of meat- perfectly charred and juicy. We sample the mutton, beef and chicken. All are excellent!
Next up Satay Kajang Haji Samuri, a satay empire which has numerous stores in the Klang Valley. This is the spot that’s been recommended to us numerous times. Aside from the usual satay Haji Samuri offer exotic meats such as rabbit and venison but unfortunately neither of these are available at the time of our visit. Instead we try their tripe, liver, chicken and fish satay. What we love about Haji Samuri are the generous bowl of peanut sauce they provide for dipping as well as the sambal which is more chilli oil than chilli sauce. Their satay however are disappointing. They’re cold and unlike Willy Satay whose satay didn’t need the peanut sauce to provide flavour, Haji Samuri’s satay rely on the peanut sauce for theirs.
Our plan for our final stop is foiled when we find Medan Satay closed so we head back into KL and visit Jalan Alor to the satay stall next to Wong Ah Wah (you can eat at Wong Ah Wah and also order satay) which we know is great. The cuts of meat are definitely smaller than those of Kajang’s satay. We sample the beef and the chicken both of which are juicy and tender.
The winner of the day is Willy Satay! Juicy, well marinated, tasty satay which we would definitely return for!
Thanks to all our subscribers who recommended we head out to Kajang to sample the satay! If you have any more satay restaurants/stalls that you reckon we should check out- let us know!
Where we ate (all Halal):
Willy Satay, Jalan Sungai Ramal Dalam, 43000, Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia, 43000 Kajang, Malaysia. Open 7 days from 4:00pm to midnight- if you are near an MRT station we recommend you catch the MRT to Stadium Kajang and then catch an Uber or Grab to Willy Satay. Otherwise simply catch a Grab or Uber there direct.
Sate Kajang Haji Samuri: Jalan Hishammuddin, Bandar Kajang, 43000 Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia (opposite the Stadium Kajang MRT station). Open Monday to Thursday 10:30am to 12:30am, Friday 4:00pm to 1:00am, Saturday and Sunday 10:30am to 1:00am
Wong Ah Wah: Jalan Alor, Bukit Bintang, 50200 Kuala Lumpur. Open Monday to Saturday 5:00pm to 4:00am and Sunday 5:00pm to midnight.

Delicious IKAN BAKAR- GRILLED FISH FEAST in Kuala Lumpur | Food and Travel Channel | Malaysia
Subscribe for more food and travel videos:
We visit Jalan Bellamy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to try ikan bakar which literally translates to 'burnt fish'. All types of seafood are wrapped in banana leaves and basted with a chilli sauce before being cooked in fiery hot pans.
We sample:
- sotong or squid;
- ikan pari or stingray;
- fish;
- rice and vegetables; and
- coconut water and teh limau ais.
The seafood is so tender and beautifully cooked. The atmosphere too is fantastic, the smoky air is filled with delicious aromas, the restaurant is lively and you feel as though you're dining in a village rather than in the heart of KL!
There are also a few sweet stalls outside of the restaurants so if you're after dessert you can grab some pisang goreng (fried banana) or other treats to nibble on!
Thanks to all our subscribers who suggested that we visit Jalan Bellamy for ikan bakar! Your recommendation was awesome.
Where we ate:
Kak Jat Ikan Bakar
off Lorong Bellamy & Jalan Istana, Bukit Petaling, 50460 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Open Monday to Saturday 10:00am to 3:00pm

kuala lumpur, Malaysia. History, Economy, Best Time To Travel
Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur simply called KL by locals. It is largest city in Malaysia. KL is widely recognised for numerous landmarks, including Petronas Twin Towers (the world’s tallest twin skyscrapers), Petaling Street flea market, and Batu Caves, which is over 400 million years old. Kuala Lumpur has been ranked second by the Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Liveability Ranking at Asia after Singapore. UNESCO also have named Kuala Lumpur as World Book Capital 2020.
LOCATION
The city is a Federal Territory, and has an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi) which consists of the city center and its surrounding urban areas, managed by the KL City Hall. It also merges with the adjacent satellite cities of Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Klang, Port Klang, Ampang, Selayang/Rawang, Kajang, Puchong, Sepang, and all in the state of Selangor, Divided into numerous districts, its main hub is called the Golden Triangle which comprises Bukit Bintang, KLCC and Chinatown.
HISTORY
Founded only in 1857 as a tin mining outpost. Kuala Lumpur has grown from a small sleepy Chinese tin-mining village to a bustling metropolis of 7 million in just 150 years.
Kuala Lumpur started to prosper and was made capital of the Federated Malay States in 1896. Malaysia's independence was declared in 1957 in front of huge crowds at what was later named Stadium Merdeka (Independence Stadium), and Kuala Lumpur continued as the new nation's capital.
The economic boom of the 1990s brought KL the standard trappings of a modern city, bristling with skyscrapers and modern transportation systems.
CLIMATE
Kuala Lumpur has a year-round tropical rainforest climate which is warm and sunny, along with abundant rainfall. It can even rain daily during the northeast monsoon season from October to March. Wettest month (with highest rainfall) is November (278mm). Driest month (with lowest rainfall) is June (130mm).
Temperatures tend to remain constant throughout the year and hover between 31~33 °C (max. temperature) and 22~23 °C (min. temperature).
GOVERNMENT
The local administration is carried out by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, an agency under the Federal Territories Ministry of Malaysia. Executive power lies with the mayor in the city hall, who is appointed for three years by the Federal Territories Minister.
The city once held the headquarters of the executive and judicial branches of the federal government as well, but they were moved to Putrajaya in early 1999. Some sections of the judiciary still remain in Kuala Lumpur.
ECONOMY
Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding urban areas form the most industrialised and economically, the fastest growing region in Malaysia.
The city remains as the economic and business centre of the country. Kuala Lumpur is a centre for finance, insurance, real estate, media and the arts of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is rated as an alpha world city, and is the only global city in Malaysia, according to the Globalization and World Cities Study Group and Network (GaWC).The infrastructure development in the surrounding areas such as the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at Sepang, the creation of the Multimedia Super Corridor and the expansion of Port Klang further reinforce the economic significance of the city.
Other important economic activities in the city are education and health services. Numerous public and private medical specialist centres and hospitals in the city offer general health services, and a wide range of specialist surgery and treatment that caters to locals and tourists.
ourism plays an important role in the city's service-driven economy. Many large worldwide hotel chains have a presence in the city. Kuala Lumpur is the sixth most visited city in the world,

Nearby is the immense, green-domed Perdana Putra, which contains the prime minister’s office complex. On the waterfront is the Millennium Monument, a tall, thin metal obelisk with a hibiscus-shaped base. The China-Malaysia Friendship Garden is a landscaped lakeside park, with flowers and a pavilion. In the north of the city, the Putrajaya Botanical Garden contains Asian and African plants, along with a research facility. Farther north, Taman Wetlands is a man-made park with a flamingo pond and an observation tower.
