FRENCH & JAPANESE villages in MALAYSIA | one of the best places ever seen
FRENCH VILLAGE :
Near Bentong, Pahang, off the Karak Highway, there is a highland called Bukit Tinggi. Located just about 40 minutes from Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Tinggi houses a resort which is a replica of a collection of buildings from a 16th century northeastern village in France. If you are like me who has never been to France, this picturesque village would make you feel as if you are in Europe, of course with much less costs.
The resort – called Colmar Tropicale – is surrounded by luxuriant tropical forest and is made up of eight blocks, each with its own unique design from its colourful roof tiles to cobblestone ground. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment. It had a kitchen, dining area and living area on the ground floor and the bedrooms were situated on the upper level. The place was so spacious that more than four adults could have stayed comfortably. There are eight choices of dining outlets serving various specialties. Haute French cuisine is served at La Cigogne; a hodge podge of culinary delights at Le Cafe Coffee House; exotic cocktails and assorted beverages at the Le Blason Lounge; cool refreshments and snacks at Les-Bains-Douches Poolside; home made pastries at La Flamme Sidewalk Deli; sandwiches and various blends of coffee at La Terrace; mouthwatering ice-cream at Le Glacier Ice-Cream Corner; or tuck into a hearty meal at Le Poulet Roti Roast Chicken.
At the heart of Colmar Tropicale is the Colmar Square, a cobblestone central courtyard where one can enjoy outdoor dining and street performances. The place is beautifully lit up at night for Christmas and New Year celebrations. There are fountains and park benches to sit and relax, enjoy the beauty of nature. The drawbridge reminiscent of ancient castles, clock tower with an original cuckoo bird clock, and the viewing tower complements the ambience. The pond surrounding the castle also has swans. There are also various activities to keep you and your children occupied such as pottery painting, video game room, gym and candle and soap-making demonstrations.
While staying here too, make sure you visit the Rabbit Park where you can see and also touch and cuddle the rabbits. My children enjoyed playing with the rabbits so much they refused to leave! We then went to the deer sanctuary followed by the children taking the donkey rides.
Besides seeing the animals, we also visited the Japanese Village and Botanical Garden. The Japanese garden was apparently planned and designed by renowned Japanese architect Kaio Ariizumi-San and built by a team of 22 skilled Japanese craftsmen. Following a windy footpath, we arrived at a bridge over a koi pond. Then we walk further to a beautiful garden where a Japanese tea house is situated. You can sit and rest and take photographs of the nature wonderland.
The Botanical Garden is also a delightful place to visit, especially for someone who loves the flora and fauna. One can take a long walk in the garden surrounded by tall trees and exquisite flowering plants and ferns.
JAPANESE VILLAGE :
Located higher up at 3,500 feet above sea level is the Zen-Inspired Japanese Village comprising of the Japanese Tea House, Botanical Garden, Tatami Spa, Ume Tatami Suite and Ryo Zan Tei Restaurant. Built by a team of 22 skilled craftsmen from Japan, the Japanese Village was specially planned and designed by renowned Japanese architect, Mr Kaio Ariizumi.
How To Get There
The Japanese village is located just a 5 minutes drive away from Colmar Tropicale. To reach the attraction, you could either choose to ride the free shuttle bus from provided by Colmar Tropicale Berjaya Hills Resort or drive your way there.

Lord Shiva Temple Ulu Gombak Batu 16 (Selangor, Malaysia)
Shivan Meditation Sanctuary, Bentong Old Road, Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia
1.) Introduction
To get to this temple will be very tricky, and it is advisable to visit the temple with a friend that is familiar and visited the place before. The Shivan meditation sanctuary is believed to be founded by a sithar which is located in a jungle and only accessible by the old bentong road, the place offers a direct unification of the devotee's spiritual experience with the nature. It is one of the rarest temple situated next to a river and gives you the opportunity to bath in the nearby river and pray.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.) History
The temple was founded by a local Sitthar (a small idol is dedicated for him in the temple) which have devoted his life towards Lord Shivan, there used to be a small hut which resides a temple priest (this was back in 2009), but as our research team member visited the place again, the place is now at a demolished state and no one resides in this small hut again.
The main statue of Shiva lingga has been replaced with a bigger one and some construction are taking place. a lot of construction materials can be seen at the river bank which needs attention from volunteers to do something about it. We have seen vast improvements but we believe that extra efforts is required to totally transform the place. We were briefed by a local stating that the entire hill was bought over by an influential man and as you go into the jungle, you may see some structures belonging to him (houses, quarters).
Visitors may also see some very old idols that we believe should be from another temple that has been relocated here. We believe these idols may be more than 100 years old. You may see a Lord Hanuman idol and also Sapthakannis and Datos small temple uphill.
As a community powered temple, progress is witnessed and the effort should not stop there. We believe that the opportunity given for devotees to meditate with the scenery of the jungle and rhythm of the river to transcend you within a different dimension.

Bukit Tinggi - Tourist Attractions in Malaysia
Bukit Tinggi is a small town in the Bentong district of Pahang, Malaysia. This small town is located along Karak Expressway, notable for its famous restaurants that lure visitors coming from Genting Highlands.
Bukit Tinggi is just over an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur City centre and lies some 2,500 feet above sea level.
Colmar Tropicale, located in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, is a replica of a collection of buildings from a north-eastern village in France dating back to the 16th Century. The French themed resort was opened in July 2000. It's surrounded by tropical forest land.
The theme hotel is made up of eight blocks of architectural wonder, each with its unique style, from its colourful roof tiles to cobblestone ground. The hotel has several outlets, where you can dine in the French way. Central to the village is Colmar Square where the aroma of the blooms will tantalise your senses. There are fountains and park benches in the square for relaxation after a hard day's work browsing in the 17 theme shops, or should one wish to take a breather from participating in the various activities. The drawbridge reminiscent of ancient castles, clock tower with an original cuckoo bird clock, and the viewing tower complements the ambience.
Live bands and snake performances entertain the visitors on a stage. A clown juggles balls and pins, rides on his cycle, hops around playing tricks and acting merry. Authentic French food is served from sidewalk cafes and restaurants. The tables are placed strategically around the square so you can enjoy a meal or glass of wine whilst taking in the ambience.

Kuching - RELAXING Walk Around ORCHID PARK
Yesterday, afternoon I headed to Kuching in Sarawak for a relaxing walk around the Orchid Park. Admittedly, not something I would usually choose to visit but I do love botanical gardens so thought I would pay it a visit. The park is much larger than expected and it was so peaceful. If you want somewhere to get away from it all, clear the mind, then this is the place to visit. Must have seen 2 people on all the time I was there.
