Karuvarakundu is a Semi Urban Area in the eastern part of Malappuram district, Kerala, India. The place known as Jamshedpur of south india because its different type of metals depository. It is situated 32 kilometres east of Manjeri, 26 kilometres northeast of Perinthalmanna and 30 km southeast of Nilambur. The Olippuzha River flows through the town, a tributary of the Kadalundipuzha. Karuvarakundu is very near to the Western Ghats and hence prone to landslides. There are many tea and rubber plantations in and around Karuvarakundu.     The Kanjirapuzha Dam, a masonry earth dam built for providing irrigation to a Cultural Command Area of 9,713 hectares , is located in the Palakkad district in the Indian state of Kerala. The reservoir, which has three islands within it, also has an established commercial fisheries development programme operated by the Fisheries Department.Construction of the dam, including the irrigation system, was started in 1961 at an initial cost of Rs. 3.65 crores which was revised to Rs. 101.19 crores .
