Quick Guide to Zambia: Visa-free travel for South Africans
Zambia is home to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and is commonly known as Africa’s “Adventure Capital”.
While sharing the mighty Victoria Falls with Zimbabwe along its border, visitors who see the Falls from this country get a completely different experience.
Not only is Zambia home to an abundant natural and cultural heritage, it is also known for offering some extreme adventure activities like white-water rafting down the Zambezi River, bungee-jumping from Victoria Falls bridge, and swimming in Devil's Pool which is on the cliff of the Victoria Falls.

Ngonye / Sioma Falls, Zambezi River, Zambia
The Zambezi is renowned for its majestic Victoria Falls, one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, but its other waterfalls are not so well-publicised. The Ngonye Falls are situated above-stream from the Victoria near a small Zambian town of Sioma (hence their other name, Sioma Falls), They are comprised of dozens of streams rushing across basalt rocks (and sometimes piercing right through them). The complexity of the geological structure of the place is truly mind-boggling until you see an aerial picture.
We visited this amazing place in January 2017 and were absolutely stunned by its sheer scale and wild beauty. Our special thanks go to Leonie and Piet from Kabula Lodge who gave us directions and shared their know-hows which allowed us to see the falls from all the vantage points (and fed us the most delicious lamb potje when we came back to the camp, tired, a bit sunburned but absolutely blissfully happy)!

6 Crimes To Avoid in Botswana, South Africa

If you’ve ever wanted to go on a perfect safari, Botswana is the place to visit. It’s a trip unlike any other… However, there’s one or two things to know about Botswana before you head out.
1. Don’t Talk on a Cell Phone While Walking
There are some small time criminals who will walk up to someone talking on their cell phone and snatch it out of their hand and then take off. It’s best to keep your phone in your pocket.
2. Don’t Try to Resist a Carjacking
Carjackings have been known to happen mostly in urban areas. If it does, remember that you’re in a rental and don’t resist. Just let them take the car and your stuff. It’s just stuff.
3. Don’t Pack Expensive Luggage
At some of the major airports in South Africa, Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airports, there’s an epidemic of baggage theft. It’s best to ensure that your most expensive possessions stay on you when you’re traveling. Don’t check anything that might draw a greedy person’s attention.
4. Don’t Make Yourself a Target
You can avoid crime in Botswana by simply leaving your jewelry at home. Don’t flash an expensive camera or smartphone anywhere that it’s not necessary. Just make sure you’re being discreet and you won’t have a problem.
5. Don’t Play Fast and Loose With the Law
Punishments here tend to be more severe than in America and you never want to spend time at a US Embassy in any country. So, check the rules and then stick to them.
6. Don’t Get Worried About Street Crime
Unlike a lot of other countries in Africa, Botswana is relatively free of street crime, even in the larger cities. However, caution is advised in the Gaborone Dam area and in the Kgale Hill section of the country’s capital, Gaborone.

University of Zambia Goma Lakes
The most beautiful, serene, and captivating aspect of the University of Zambia campus landscape are the memorable Goma Lakes. The campus is located on the Great East Road in Capital City of Lusaka in Zambia in Southern Africa.
