Bali's mysterious abandoned plane that's now a tourist attraction
There's an abandoned plane in Bali, and it's a bit of a mystery on how it got there.
The Boeing 737 is located in South Kuta, in a secluded field that has been gated off and under regular surveillance. It has become quite the tourist attraction for travellers, consistently drawing visitors eager to take pictures with the mysterious plane.
Locals of the area say that the plane was originally planned to be a restaurant, but the owner ran out of money and left the aircraft where it currently is now.
Weirdly, it's not the only abandoned plane in Bali. A second Boeing 737 - located in Kedonganan - is right next door to a Dunkin Donuts; it's so close to the street that the wing of the plane hangs over the road. It's also a mystery as to why and how this plane managed to get there, but regardless, both remain popular with tourists.

Top Things to Do in Bali - Surf lessons, Snorkel with Mantas Rays, Uluwatu
Top Things to Do in Bali - Surf lessons, Snorkel with Mantas Rays, Uluwatu
Surfing, snorkeling with Mantas in Nusa Penida, and hanging out in Uluwatu are some of the most popular things to do in Bali. Since we still had guests in town it was time to knock some of these things off the to do list.
Tourists actually have to leave the island of Bali and head south east to Nusa Penida to swim where the Manta Rays are more commonly found. If you’re interested in swimming with the Mantas I would recommend that you triple check with your tour that it’s focus is the mantas. Sadly, we ended up on the wrong tour through some miscommunication and to this day, have only seen mantas by googling. It’s very sad.
Surfing in Bali is the primary draw for many tourists to the island. During our time in Bali, some of us became gods of the surf who only answered to the ocean. Others surfed the white wash at the beginner beach. True legends aren’t born- they’re made. If you want to become a surf hero in Canggu area reach out to Jaya- his lessons are awesome. He’ll babysit you if you need it. If you’re a peacock that’s got to fly, he’ll let you fly.
Leila visits Bali!. The girls took a scooter trip to Uluwatu where they earned some of the best hangovers of their lives while hanging out at Single Fin Bali, explore Uluwatu temple and admire the Blue Point Hotel Pool.
