In year 2020, the Estonian mobility solutions from trains to bicycles and driving to walking are combined into a seamless system. Convenient mobility options, understandable and up-to-date travelling information and carefree payment system will make travelling in Estonia comfortable for the locals as well as the visitors.

20 train and bus stations have been built or reconstructed in key locations across the country – for example, there is a new bus terminal in Pärnu and the historical train station in Narva has been reconstructed. The new public transport hubs offer secure options to park cars or bicycles.

In year 2020, Tallinn airport will be only a few minute tram ride away from the center of Tallinn and also travel from other key locations across the country to the airport will take less than 3 hours. While flights to key locations in Europe (such as Brussels, Frankfurt and London) will leave twice a day from the airport.

Out of the bigger road construction projects, the construction of Tartu bypass is finished by year 2020. In Tallinn Haabersti junction has been developed into an interchange and in order to improve the connections to the Old City Harbour, a new street has been made from the Old City Harbour to Russalka junction. On the Tallinn-Pärnu highway, the first 2+1 section between Ääsmäe and Kernu is completed and on the Tallinn-Tartu highway, the four-line section has been extended by at least 18 kilometers from Kose to Ardu.

In year 2020, the air quality in the cities has been improved, because every tenth vehicle is powered by gas or electricity. All the new public transport vehicles are petrol and diesel-free.

In major centers, cars and bikes are added to the public transportation system, which everyone can use as part of the car share and bike share programs.

Using all these innovations is made more comfortable by the real-time journey planner and nationwide ticketing system. Choose the suitable mean of transport and route, step into public transport or rent a bike or a car by using a smartphone and get on the way – your travel will be automatically registered and you will receive an invoice for all your travels at the end of the month.

In numbers, these changes are measured, as follows:
• The users of public transport, people who move around on foot or by bike has increased to 50%
• Annually the number of rail passengers has increased to 8.8 million
• The total length of the built or reconstructed railroad sections is 110 km and 115 km of the highways, which are part of the pan-European transport network

In this way, we have taken a huge leap toward the future by year 2020, where the roads are well taken care of and the cars do not pollute the air, public transport is most favored for everyday travels and everyone can go wherever they want comfortably and quickly.
