LOTUS LAKE - Thale Noi and Bamboo Market: Exploring PHATTHALUNG, Thailand!
Phatthalung's Thale Noi Lotus Lake is world-famous, and for good reason! Some of the spectacular array of flowers only bloom once every 10 years! How amazing is that? What's more amazing is that we were fortunate enough to explore the lotus lake at the perfect time; yup, we saw them!
Phatthalung's Bamboo market is an obvious must-see, but we would highly recommend getting there early, wow does it get packed!
From a famous bridge to a cave-ridden temple, from a local sunrise hotspot to a quiet swimming canyon - Phatthalung is a two-day travel experience that begs you to spend some time in the south of Thailand.
If you have very little time, but still want to know some of the best things to do in Thailand, we suggest visiting Thale Noi. You get to go on a guided through thousands of vivid lotuses (more flowers if you're lucky), you get immersed in the local fishing culture, you cruise past water buffalo merely living their lives and you end up with a memory you get to keep forever, but don't take our word for it!
Enjoy the video!
Love

SUNRISE BY BOAT & LOTUS @ THALE NOI, PHATTHALUNG / THAILAND
From Hatyai to Phatthalung by train took 2 hour to arrived Phatthalung station and half and hour to ban thale noi lake.
This place is one of the most interesting nature parks of Thailand and well worth a visit. A trip on the lake with a small boat takes about 1 to 2 hours and you should start early in the morning, as the lotus will close the flowers in the afternoon. There are a lot of different waterbirds. Also water buffalos may be seen as they eat the waterplants and grass.
We hired a boat for an hour for 450 baht. The boatman was great taking us to see the different sites and slowing down each time I raised my camera to take a photograph, In the end we were almost 2 hours for the same price. Wonderful lotus flowers and it was interesting to see the diversity of different parts of the lake. Birds and buffalo are very much in evidence. We went at 6am to enjoy the sunrise scenery over the boat and surrounded by lotus flowers around. A great experience to explore this place.

Thailand Phatthalung Songkhla Roadtrip Part 3
Over a 3 day weekend, we joined some friends for a road trip to southern Thailand. Around the Songkhla Phatthalung loop visiting some interesting places.
Southern Thailand's Khao Ok Thalu
This rugged limestone outcrop, fringed by forest and tamed by a steep, concrete staircase of some 1000 steps, adds some serious ‘Wow factor’ to the otherwise sleepy town of Phattalung in Southern Thailand. Plenty of limestone spires pierce the horizon around Phattalung, but Khao Ok Thalu turns the most heads.
It's named for a gaping hole near the mountain’s 250-metre-high summit that frames a view of town and its steamy summit climb is truly breathtaking (check out the ‘Madame Tussaud’ monks that reside over the summit - spookily life-like!).
A second, less taxing stairway winds across the range, leading pilgrims to a Buddhist mediation hall you’ll be surprised to discover hidden in a forested saddle. Higher still, a stunning golden Buddha seated in the Subduing Mara posture keeps watch, guarding the entrance to a tranquil sanctuary for Buddhist nuns.
This special haven, shaded by flowering trees and dotted with fish ponds is sheer paradise for the happiest nuns I’m sure I’ll ever meet. After being offered icy drinks and a tour of their home, we were led deep inside the limestone to descend to a tiny, underground cave devoted to prayer.
Khao Ok Thalu's steamy climb harks of another, more famous ascent to Krabi's Tiger Temple (Wat Tham Seua), but there are no crowds here. If you do happen to meet anyone, it's likely to be one of those gorgeously beaming nuns who'll most likely invite you to join them for breakfast.
