The river flows through the falls and ultimately joins a major Kuji River . The width of the falls is 73 m, while the height reaches 120 m. During winter the falls may freeze. The falls are ranked as the third most beautiful waterfall in Japan, coming after Kegon Falls and Nachi Falls . The Fukuroda Falls is listed as one of the Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls, in a listing published by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment in 1990. The closest train station is Fukuroda JR station located 3 kilometers away. 3. Kairakuen ParkMito Kairaku-en is a Japanese garden located in Mito, Ibaraki, Japan. Along with Kenroku-en and Koraku-en, it is considered one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. Kairakuen was built relatively recently in the year 1841 by the local lord Tokugawa Nariaki. Unlike Japan's other two great landscape gardens Kenrokuen and Kōrakuen, Kairakuen served not only for the enjoyment of the ruling lord, but was open to the public. While worth a visit throughout the year, Kairakuen is most attractive during the plum blossom season, which usually takes place in late February and March. Many people climb the so-called purple mountain every year for the panoramic view of the Kantō plain from the summit. On clear days the Tōkyō skyline, Lake Kasumigaura and even Mount Fuji are visible from the mountain top. Most mountains in Japan are volcanic, but Mount Tsukuba is composed of non-volcanic rocks such as granite and gabbro.
