Rayong is an eastern Thai province on the Gulf of Thailand, known for its national parks and beaches. On its south coast, the beach at Ban Phe is home to a fishing community and is the gateway to Koh Samet island, part of the Khao Laem Ya - Mu Ko Samet National Park. To the west, the long, flat Mae Ram Phueng beach offers panoramic views. Farther east, Laem Mae Phim beach has small waves and beachside restaurants. Rayong is only a easy 3 hour drive from Bangkok and is jumping off point for the popular Samet island a long standing favorite weekend getaway spot for Bangkokians.

This was Babe’s first visit to the Rayong Marriott Resort and Spa in quite a while but she says it is just as beautiful as it was the first visit. In addition to spacious rooms and sweeping grounds the Resort features HUGE main swimming pool with two waterslides, there is also a seaside island view pool right on the beach, a very large kid’s center, fitness center, and a host of restaurants to suit your every taste.
Babe stayed in a Studio Corner Suite Room 423, starts at 7,200 baht/ night (US$216) during her January 2018 visit. The room is a massive 77 sq/m and features clear views of the Gulf of Thailand via the floor to ceiling windows and the big balcony. The Suite also features a large walk-in closet, working desk, day bed, full bath, and shower.
The C Salt Café features International cuisine and is the venue for the Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa's amazing breakfast buffet.

The restaurant in the video is Krua Gaeng Ped (ครัวแกงเผ็ด) in Rayong and does some great renditions of Thai food and Thai seafood dishes. I liked that they made their own sauce and I ordered stir fried vine leaves, a sizzling ostrich hot plate, and the star of the show was the fried fish covered in Thai chili, chili sauce, with deep fried lemongrass and basil as the tasty garnish. Pretty awesome!
