El Tunco Beach El Salvador - known as Playa El Tunco. We continue our backpacking El Salvador adventure and arrive in the coastal village of El Tunco. El Tunco Beach is a well known destination for surfers and is only a short drive from El Salvador's capital San Salvador.

El Tunco It has a great atmosphere with beach front restaurants and bars and it a great place to sit and watch the sunset, If you do make it to El Salvador then you must visit for a few nights.

The TRANSBORDER UNIT is one of KJZZ's newest innovations, creating an opportunity for community leaders to investigate broad issues, probing beyond our borders. Our first team explored a diverse set of topics, ranging from micro-lending in Colombia to the Team Rentería Baseball Academy (a training center in Barranquilla for players who aspire to play for the big leagues).

Alongside seasoned journalists, our community leaders-turned-explorers gained hands-on insight into the editorial process, as they traveled with reporters from KJZZ News and La Voz (Phoenix's Spanish language newspaper).

This is a rare, first time, opportunity to see what happens when we combine community leaders with professional journalists working to find hidden stories, as they share those stories with fellow citizens back home.
