Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada of the United States. Lying at 6,225 ft , it straddles the state line between California and Nevada, west of Carson City. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America, and at 122,160,280 acre⋅ft trails only the five Great Lakes as the largest by volume in the United States. Its depth is 1,645 ft , making it the second deepest in the United States after Crater Lake in Oregon .The lake was formed about 2 million years ago as part of the Lake Tahoe Basin, with the modern extent being shaped during the ice ages.   • 5. Echo Lakes Hiking Trail Lake Tahoe Nevada
    Echo Canyon State Park is a public recreation area surrounding a 65-acre reservoir, located about 12 miles east of the town of Pioche, Nevada. The state park's 1,800 acres include Echo Canyon Reservoir, created with the building in 1969-70 of the Echo Canyon Dam, the farthest downstream dam on the Meadow Valley Wash. Following development of a camping area, the Nevada Division of State Parks took control of operations in 1970.The scenic area around Echo Canyon has several ranches and farms. The park ranges in elevation from 5,200 feet to 5,600 feet and sees occasional winter snows. The park offers campsites, picnicking, boat launch, and fishing. The 2.5-mile Ash Canyon hiking trail leads into backcountry areas of the park.

    Horsetail Falls is a waterfall in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, to the west of Lake Tahoe in the Desolation Wilderness of El Dorado County, California, United States. It falls in stages for nearly 500ft . It can be reached by hiking north out of the Twin Bridges trailhead on U.S. Route 50. There is a forest service parking area designated to the area. It is located at 38°49′40.28″N 120°7′23.87″W.
