Guide to KOH LARN - Bangkok and Pattaya's Island Day Trip Getaway
Koh Larn!
Also known to be spelled as Koh Lan, Koh Lahn, Koh Laan, etc. It is the closest island destination to both Bangkok and Pattaya. Just a 40 minute ferry ride from Pattaya City, many people just go as a day trip and leave the island in the evening. I say it is much better to spend at least 1 night on the island so you can see all of what it has to offer.
In this guide I tell you how to get to Koh Larn and how to get around. I also show you all the beaches that are accessible, both popular and not so well known. I also show some of the great food options the island offers.
Koh Larn is a small island but has a lot to offer.

Day 8 (Koh Kood เกาะกูด, also spelled Ko Kood or Koh Kut): Eastern Thailand Food and Travel Tour. Watch all 8 videos here:
This is Day 8 of my Eastern Thailand food and travel series. Our final destination was the island of Koh Kood (เกาะกูด), and one of the best islands and most beautiful in Thailand. From the water to the beaches, to the jungle, you’ll be in awe.
How to get to Koh Kood? We took the Boonsiri Ferry - 1,000 THB ($31.75) per person round-trip. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there.
On this one day guide of food and travel in Koh Kood (เกาะกูด), we hired a pickup truck to drive us around (Private vehicle - 2,000 THB ($63.50) whole day) to some of the famous sites, beaches, and restaurants. It was an amazing day.
The Sunshine Resort Koh Kood at Ao Phrao Beach (อ่าวพร้าว) - This is where we stayed for the first few nights in Koh Kood. A very nice relaxing quiet place.
Khao Saleun (ข้าวสะลื่น) - It doesn’t really have a name, but this small rice and curry restaurant serves great food in Koh Kood.
Mushroom curry (แกงเห็ดเสม็ด)
Chicken curry (แกงไก่บ้าน)
Total price - 100 THB ($3.17)
Old Tree 1
Old Tree 2
Klong Chao Waterfall (น้ำตกคลองเจ้า) - There are a number of tropical waterfalls on Koh Kood, and we went to Klong Chao, because of its big pool of water. It did start raining, but it was still fun.
Khao Reua Rub (เขาเรือรบ) - This is a shrine and there’s not much to see, but it’s interesting.
Bang Bao Beach (บางเบ้า) - This is one of the best beaches in Koh Kood and in Thailand. Crystal clear bathtub water.
Ao Yai Fisherman Village (บ้านอ่าวใหญ่) - One of the things I wanted to do most in Koh Kood was visit a fishing village to eat seafood. The village is great, and well worth checking out and exploring when you’re in Koh Kood.
Chonthicha Restaurant (ร้านชลธิชา) - There are a few different seafood restaurants, but we chose this one.
Squid with garlic (ปลามึกทอดกระเทียม)
Murex sashimi (หอยเงาะ)
Hoy pawk pad prik pao (หอยพอกผัดพริกเผา)
Shrimp pineapple curry (แกงคั่วสับปะรด)
Fried slipper lobster (กั้งกระดานทอดกระเทียม)
Total price - 1,360 THB ($43.18)
The most unique dish of the meal was Murex sashimi (หอยเงาะ), in Thai it’s called a Rambutan Shell, after the fruit.
Koh Kood (เกาะกูด) is the type of island where you can go to your resort and just not move, and that is great. But there are also some amazing things to do when you’re there as well, and I hope this video gives you some great ideas. Thank you for watching!

TIEN BEACH - KOH LARN ISLAND | Beautiful Quiet Beach Near Pattaya, Thailand
Tien Beach on Koh Larn Island is a beautiful quiet beach near Pattaya, Thailand.
It is one of 5 accessible beaches on Koh Larn Island off the city of Pattaya, Thailand.
This beach like all the beaches on Koh Larn Island has white sand beach and clear emerald water. Parts of this beach is scattered with trees growing out from the sand near the water.
There is no road or street going through this beach, unlike Tawaen beach, so you don't have to worry about any traffic here. It's just pure beach area.
They do have a few makeshift stores and restaurants behind all the beach chairs, but no real building establishment like Tawaen beach.
There also seems to be fewer people at this beach compared to Tawaen beach.
So if you want to get away from the crowd, this beach would be better for you.
It cost 30thb to get to Tien Beach.
Thank you for watching.

500 Rai Resorts in Thailand's Khao Sok National Park - Interview at TTM+ 2019
Thais have long known about the beauty of Khao Sok National Park in Thailand's southern Surat Thani province, but the destination is still not very well known amongst travellers from abroad. That's about to change.
Home to a resort company that sounds more like a currency exchange or property investment business, 500 Rai Resorts has a portfolio of two different properties, a floating resort which consists of 18 duplex rooms that can accommodate 80 – 100 people, and a Farmhouse, located some 60kms from the lake, which has six rooms that can accommodate up to 22 people.
Both resorts are perfect for nature lovers, photographers, hikers and those who just want to enjoy some peace and quiet, away from the hordes of tourists that can be found in many other places.
As the theme of the recent Thailand Travel Mart (TTM+) 2019 in Pattaya was ‘New Shades of Emerging Destinations’, Steven Howard of TravelNewsAsia.com took the opportunity to sit down with Atirat Danphattharaworawat, Managing Director of 500 Rai, to ask him more about these two amazing resorts.
In the interview, filmed at TTM+ on 6 June 2019, Khun Atirat explains where the two resorts are located and how guests can travel there.
We discuss how the two resorts differ, what the rooms are like, where guests are coming from, what the average length of stay is, and which markets they will be targeting for the rest of 2019 and 2020.
Khun Atirat also tells us what there is to do near the resorts, what the prices are like and whether there are any all-inclusive options available, and how he, and the local community, are working to protect the environment where the resorts are located.
You will also discover why so few foreigners know of his resort and why that is about to change, why he was attending the TTM+, and how the local community gets involved with the resorts and much, much more in the video.
Tawaen Beach - Ko Lan Island | Pattaya | Amazing Thailand Part 9 | Bangkok
Ko Lan - Island in Thailand:
It is one of the eastern seaboard islands of Thailand. Ko Lan lies 7.5 km from the nearest shore, Pattaya. Ko Lan is the name of the island in the Royal Thai General System of Transcription. It is also known as Koh Larn and Ko Laan.
Ko Lan is the largest of the near islands, off south Pattaya. It is at the southeast end of the Bay of Bangkok, on the east side of the Gulf of Siam. Administratively Ko Lan belongs to the Amphoe Bang Lamung, Chonburi Province.
It is about four kilometres in length and two kilometres in width. It is a hilly island, covered with low tropical forest; its highest point reaches 180 m where there is a Buddhist shrine. The island has two small villages: Ban Ko Lan and Ban Krok Makhan where there are lodgings and restaurants. There are ferries connecting Ko Lan to the mainland.
Most of Ko Lan's beaches are on its west side. Most visited is Tawaen Beach, where there is a small harbor. The length of the beach is lined with small tourist shops and restaurants. Other beaches are Tonglang Beach, Tien Beach, Samae Beach, and Naon Beach. Ko Lan is inhabited by about 3,000 residents in 1,000 households, mostly clustered around the ferry pier.

Beautiful Thailand - Bangsak Village in Khao Lak / relaxing at the hidden Pool
Beautiful Holiday Resort in Khao Lak Thailand.
The Staff was very friendly the rooms where clean and the food was delicious. We can recommend the resourt to anyone who doesn't want party and action in the hotel. We staied in a room with pool access which was a realy good descision. For 10 Apartements you have a Pool which is actually a large jacuzzi because there are air nozzle everywhere on the side.
To be mobile you can use the hotel shuttle but we would recommend getting a scooter so you are free and can go to the market whenever you want.
