Sailing Destination Saint Valery-en-Caux, Normandy, France
SAILING JOURNEY DESTINATIONS
Sail the French Coastline to Saint-Valery-en-Caux
One of the hidden gems along the English Channel is the little town Saint-Valery-en-Caux, embedded between the impressive white cliffs on the channel’s South-Eastern coast.
But before you can enter this beautiful place from the sea, careful navigation is mandatory. The pre-harbor falls dry 3 m and harbor entry is only possible HW +/- 2 hrs.
Passing a draw bridge and a massive sea gate you will find a most charming marina right in the city center.
Situated in Northern France, 32 kms from Dieppe, St. Valery en Caux sure is a highlight on the Normandy Alabaster Coast.
Charming alleys, traditional (seafood) restaurants and historic buildings gives you a great taste of small-town Normandy.
Memorials remember of the time when this part of the world was less peaceful but also of the achievements of the great French pilot pioneer Dieudonné Costes flying non-stop from Paris to New York in 1930.
But how beautiful this destination may be, we already can’t wait to set sail again and continue our journey beyond the horizon.
We are Maik and Michelle, two sailors from different worlds and different cultures with very different perspectives about sailing around the world together on our 43-foot, steel ketch, Seefalke. We also have different levels of sailing experience. Maik (a German) has sailed for more than 20 years, while Michelle (an American) has only been sailing five years. Our crew includes two Beagles, Cap’n Jack and Scout! Come along for the ride to follow our journey! We also love to cover cool travel destinations and the amazing sea creatures we discover along the way!

Village of Vauville, Normandy (France)
Located in the Cotentin peninsula on the northwestern Coast of France near Cherbourg, in the Normandy region, this is the small village of Vauville where I spent many wonderful Summers and vacations staying with my grand-parents and family. Probably my favorite place in the world!

Le Mont Saint-Michel - view from the Barrage
Le Mont Saint-Michel from view of the #Barrage. Mont Saint-Michel is a lovely, tiny island commune in Normandy of western France. It is basically like one big church on a rocky island. Yet, St. Michel is much more -
The island has held strategic fortifications since ancient times and since the 8th century AD has been the seat of the monastery from which it draws its name. The structural composition of the town exemplifies the feudal society that constructed it: on top, God, the abbey and monastery; below, the great halls; then stores and housing; and at the bottom, outside the walls, houses for fishermen and farmers.
Its unique position, on an island just 600 metres from land, made it accessible at low tide to the many pilgrims to its abbey, but defensible as an incoming tide stranded, drove off, or drowned would-be assailants. Source - ---
This HD video of Mount Saint-Michel is from the newly created flowing water dam for flooding or barrage Mont Saint-Michel. Lovely views from the island at dusj, sunset and at night. Outside from a vantage point of the beautiful Le Mont Saint-Michel. #SaintMichel #France
