Near the capital Raipur, the town of Sirpur on the Mahanadi River is home to the red-brick Lakshmana (Laxman) Temple, decorated with carvings from Indian mythology. In the south, the city of Jagdalpur hosts the Sanjay Market on Sundays, a bartering place for local tribes. The huge Chitrakoot Falls lie to the northwest.

1. Chitrakot Waterfall :
The Chitrakoot Falls is a natural waterfall located to the west of Jagdalpur, in Bastar district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh on the Indravati River. It is located at a distance of 38 kilometres (24 mi) to the west of Jagdalpur. The height of the falls is about 29 metres (95 ft). It is the widest fall in India.
2. Achanakumar Wildlife Sanctuary :
The Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary is an Indian sanctuary in Mungeli district, Chhattisgarh State. It had been established in 1975, under the provisions of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, and declared a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger, in 2009. It is a part of the Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve.
3. Bhoramdeo Temple :
Bhoramdeo Temple is a complex of Hindu temples dedicated to the god Shiva in Bhoramdeo, in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It comprises a group of four temples of which the earliest is a brick-temple.

Bastar Palace among the tourist places located in Chhattisgarh. Bastar Palace situated in Jagdalpur of Chhattisgarh has the special ranking among all the ancient monuments. One of the best deluxe heritage hotels in Chhattisgarh, Kanker Palace was built in the first half of the 19th century and then rebuilt in 1937. Placed amid a well-maintained garden, it is the residence of the royal family of Kanker.
8. Tirathgarh Falls :
Theerarthgarh Falls is situated near Jagdalpur at Kanger Bhatti in the Kanger National Park. This 300 feet fall is an enticing and magnificent one and is also a ‘must see’ destination in the tourist map of Chhattisgarh. The falls is astride the Mugabahar River and the flow is strong.
9. Maitri Bagh :
The Maitri Bagh Zoo is located in the Bhilai, India. It Is the biggest zoo in the region. The zoo comprises 111 acres of park lands. It is run by the Public Sector Undertaking, Steel Authority of India Limited.
10. Kanger Valley National Park :
Kanger Ghati National Park (also called Kanger Valley National Park) was declared a national park in 1982 by the Government of India. Among the various protected areas in the country, the Kanger Valley National Park near Jagdalpur, in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh is one of the densest national parks, well known for its biodiversity, landscape, waterfalls, subterranean geomorphologic limestone caves, and home for the Bastar hill myna, the state bird of Chhattisgarh.

महासमुंद जिला पूर्वी भारत में छत्तीसगढ़ राज्य का एक जिला है। महासमुंद शहर जिला मुख्यालय है। महासमुंद जिला रायपुर , गरियाबंद, बलौदा बाजार, रायगढ़, ओडिशा के बरगढ़ जिले से घिरा हुआ है ।महासमुंद जिला छत्तीसगढ़ के मध्य पूर्वी भाग में 3902.39 वर्ग किमी क्षेत्र में फैला है।
महासमुन्द जिला अपनी सांस्कृतिक इतिहास के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। यह क्षेत्र ‘सोमवंशीय सम्राट’ द्वारा शासित ‘दक्षिण कोशल’ की राजधानी थी, यह सीखने का केंद्र भी हैं। यहाँ बड़ी संख्या में मंदिर हैं,जो अपने प्राकृतिक और सौंदर्य के कारण हमेशा आगंतुकों को आकर्षित करते हैं। यहाँ के मेले/त्यौहार लोगों के जीवन का हिस्सा बन गए हैं।। दक्षिण कोशल ग्रेनाइट चट्टानें बागबाहरा, बसना और पिथौरा क्षेत्र में पाई जाती हैं। चट्टानें मुख्य रूप से छत्तीसगढ़ समूह के चूना पत्थर हैं जो ऊपरी पूर्व-कैम्ब्रियन युग के कडप्पा समूह के समकालीन हैं, जिसमें चूना पत्थर की परतें, शेल, बलुआ पत्थर या क्वार्टजाइट शामिल हैं।
महासमुंद जिले में तीन राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग हैं , राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग 6 , राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग २१७, राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग 216।
महासमुंद रेलवे स्टेशन ईस्ट कोस्ट रेलवे ज़ोन का एक महत्वपूर्ण स्टेशन है। महासमुंद स्टेशन भारतीय रेलवे प्रणाली के माध्यम से रायपुर, दुर्ग, नागपुर, मुंबई, दिल्ली, भोपाल, ग्वालियर, संबलपुर, टिटिलागढ़, विशाखापट्टनम, तिरुपति, पुरी, बिलासपुर, कोरबा, जोधपुर, अजमेर, अहमदाबाद, आदि से अच्छी तरह से जुड़ा हुआ है।
2011 की जनगणना के अनुसार महासमुंद जिले की जनसंख्या 10,32,275 थी। महासमुंद जिले में हर 1000 पुरुषों पर 1018 महिलाओं का लिंग अनुपात है, और साक्षरता दर 71.54% है।
जिले की जनजातीय आबादी 28.9% है। जिले में रहने वाली जनजातियाँ भुजिया, बिंझवार, धनवार, हल्बा, कमर, कंवर, खानी, मुंडा, पारधी, बहलिया, सौर, सहरिया, सोनार, संवाड़ा और खरवार हैं।
इस क्षेत्र में बोली जाने वाली प्रमुख भाषाएँ छत्तीसगढ़ी, हिंदी और ओडिया हैं।
महासमुंद जिले में पांच तहसील शामिल हैं वे महासमुंद शहर, सरायपाली, बगबरा, पिथौरा और बसना जो आगे बारह पुलिस स्टेशनों और पांच आउट पोस्ट के बीच विभाजित हैं।
सिरपुर,चंडी मंदिर, बीरकोनी, चंडी मंदिर घुंचापाली, गौधारा, खल्लारी माता का मंदिर,श्वेत गंगा जिले के प्रमुख रूचि के स्थान हैं।

Bambleshwari Temple is at Dongargarh in Rajnandgaon district, Chhattisgarh, India. It is on a hilltop of 1600 feet. This temple is referred as Badi Bambleshwari. Another temple at ground level, the Chhotti Bambleshwari is situated about 1/2 km from the main temple complex. These temples are revered by lakhs of people of Chhattisgarh who flock around the shrine during the Navratris of Kavar (during Dashera) and Chaitra (during Ram Navami). There is tradition of lighting Jyoti Kalash during Navaratris here.

Gangrel Dam, also known as the R.S. Sagar Dam, is located in Chhattisgarh, India. It is built across the Mahanadi River. It is located in Dhamtari district, about 15 km from dhamtari and about 90 km from Raipur.
