Namibia - A Lone Backpacking Trip
An amazing journey and fantastic people. What you can see here, is only a small part of over 14 hours of footage I shot during my second trip to Namibia. Traveling alone with a backpack and tent gives me that immense feeling of freedom and makes contact with other people more personal.
I hope that you enjoy the clip and thanks for watching.
EXPLANATION: 6:06 - Moose talks about women...
P.S.
At the beginning I say something about sunny weather, at the end that it's time to eat something and maybe even to find some water to wash :)
Impresja z miesięcznej, samotnej podróży autostopem po Namibii.

In the Quiver Tree Forest are about 250 quiver trees; the tallest quiver trees are two to three centuries old. Hyraxes live between them. The forest is a national monument of Namibia.

Namibia Road Trip day 13: I slept in Duwisib castle in the desert Namibia
Last night I slept in a Namibian castle. Duwisib Castle in Namibia was built by a rather rich and eccentric German in the 1800s to the early 1900s, who had a plan to do his very own, in those days modern-day, version of the knights of the round table in Namibia.
For more information on Duwisib castle I have given some links below.
All the building materials and contents for Duwisib castle were shipped from Germany to Namibia, or Southwest Africa as it was known then, Sudwest Africa. He even brought thoroughbred horses across to Namibia from Germany.
Unfortunately he never got to enjoy this amazing castle that he built in the Namibian desert since he returned to Germany during world war one. His wife did live here for a little while and kept a journal, but after her husband died she didn't want to live here all alone so she closed the journal with an entry saying it was “a most interesting experiment” before returning to Germany herself.
The castle was built so well that even though it stood empty and exposed to the winds of the desert it is still standing now and in great condition. It's been restored by NWR (Namibian Wildlife Resorts) and for many years it was just a museum with a camping ground but now they have opened up several of the rooms so you can actually stay inside the castle.
How many people can say I've stayed in a castle in the middle of a desert? Not many. If you want to join them then take a look below for some useful links or feel free to contact me in the comments for further information or advice.

About This Episode:
Sometimes in life, conditions conspire at exactly the right time and work towards a single purpose, creating magic!
This is what happened on the Sandhof Farm north of Maltahöhe this month when thousands of so-called Sandhof lilies burst into bloom in awe-inspiring splendor.
The last time the lilies bloomed en masse here was in 2010. Perfect conditions are needed for this member of the Amaryllis plant family, Crinum paludosum, to grow and bloom. This happens only after good rains when the 700-hectare pan fills with 15 to 20cm of water. Within 7 days the plants appear and flower in a great celebration of life as if the earth has been patiently waiting.
Like magic, the event is short-lived and the exquisite show only lasts 4 to 7 days.
This year the magnificence of the ‘Sandhof lilies’ blesses us on Valentine’s day when our hearts are open to appreciating both natural beauty - and love.

How to: Roadmaking in the Desert
We know how to make FUN out of WORK at Helmeringhausen Hotel & Guestfarm. This is the actual way of making roads where there haven't been any before - with the only difference that usually there are no Austrian volunteers sitting on the tyres and having some fun on their way.
