AMAZING NEW ZEALAND ROAD TRIP // Travel Tips + Advice
During the Christmas/New Years 2017 I got the opportunity to go to New Zealand on a road trip.
The main purpose of the trip was for James to go home and see his friends and family so we spent most of the time in Wellington.
In Wellington we went to a bunch of really cute places like
- Cuba street (Super Hipster)
- Midnight Espresso (Vegan options)
- Flight coffee (Amazing cold brew)
- Royal Botanic Gardens
- Cable car
- Mt Victoria
- Oriental Bay Boat Sheds
We also went to the Gallipoli exhibit at Te Papa which was made by Weta Workshops (Peter Jackson's company) and was the most amazing exhibit I have ever seen.
We also went away for a day with James' friends Brandon and Robbie to Lake Ferry and got to stop at a couple of Wineries in Martinborough. The drive was really fun and windy. We ended up playing board games, drinking wine and staying in a caravan.
We then went on a road trip for 1 week around the north island
- Auckland 1 night
- Karekare falls
- Piha beach
- NYE in Tauranga
- Rotorua
- The luge
- Hobbiton
- Huka falls
- Craters of the moon
- Lake Taupo
- Marton on the way home
Food
-try the fries
-l&p
-steak
-any bakery
-the pizza library
Regrets
- not spending enough time
- not bringing warmer clothes
- not bringing cash
- not bringing enough space in my suitcases

Our Stay With a Japanese Family
From our Japan trip about 9 months ago LOL! Anyway my older brother (the one who speaks Japanese) made friends with this family while he was in Japan for 2 years and they invited us to stay a few nights while we were traveling around. The mother and father spoke some English, so we weren't completely in the dark. I believe they are the Kyoman family (probably spelled that wrong). Their youngest son's name is Alma, who we call Alma Kun, he is the kid you see the most of in this video. We can't understand a word from him but that didn't stop him from constantly trying and complaining that we didn't speak Japanese. They prepared a few different meals for us so we got to try homemade food instead of the usual restaurant. Great family. Not the experience a typical tourist would usually get! This was in the second week of the trip.
