When an Indian TOURIST STAYED IN A MOSQUE/Masjid in Malaysia
This video is about my hitchhiking/backpacking trip in Malaysia. I hitchhiked from Ringlet to Brinchang in the Pahang province. Visited a village of Orang Asli people, the indigenous people of Malaysia. This video will also show a glimpse of the Gurudwara (Sikh temple) and a mosque where I stayed for the night in Brinchang.

Welcome to the Cameron Highlands, better known as the backbone of Malaysia! It’s a mountain range that runs up the center of mainland Malaysia. People come here to experience the great outdoors and escape city life.
Things you can do here include visiting tea plantations, local farms, by local honey and visit the mosey forest. The three towns of the Cameron Highlands are, Brinchang, Tanah Rata and Ringlet. Visitors have a great selection of hotels and restaurants to choose from. I recommend taking two full days to experience the Cameron Highlands.
During our first day we took a half day tour with EcoCameron. Our day starts a tea plantation, from there we head to the mosey forest, and lastly a tea factory. We visited the highest mountain in the Cameron Highlands, which also has the highest road in the Malaysia.
The mosey forest is the smallest and the most complex ecosystem in the rainforest. It’s confined to only areas that are 2000 meters high. This is the most accessible mosey forest in the country.
Boh tea factory was built in 1945 and is the oldest tea factory in the Cameron Highlands. We tried a few delicious teas and shopped for our favorites! The views from the tea centre are beautiful!
Next up we visit a strawberry far. Many of these strawberry farms allow visitors to pick their own strawberries. It cost around 10 USD for half kilo of strawberries. It was hard for us to finish these strawberries in those two days.
Something fun to do in the Cameron Highlands and it plan a visit to a local bee farm. It will give you the chance to see different species of bee and learn the inner working of a hive. You will also get to sample and buy some honey to take back home with you. Most of the bee farms here are free to enter.
We head to Uncle Chows restaurant for lunch. They serve traditional authentic Malaysian. For me the most delicious dish was the curry laksa. It is to die for!! The reason why Malaysian food is so good is because it’s a mix of Malaysian, Indian and Chinese cuisine.
We hope you enjoyed the top things to do in the Cameron Highland! Have you been to the Cameron Highlands? Leave a comment below!

Old village Kampung Baru is still alive in the centre of modern Kuala Lumpur
Old-world Kampong Baru owes its rural vibe to the traditional Malay wooden stilt houses here, flanked by coconut palms and banana trees. Chickens and goats wander the narrow lanes, and stalls sell street food like grilled fish and dragon fruit smoothies. A lively weekly night market sells clothes and handicrafts, while nearby Chow Kit Market is known for produce, spices and textiles.
Kampung Baru or Kampong Bharu (meaning New Village) is a Malay enclave in central Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. One of the most valuable tracts of land in the capital, it has been estimated to be worth up to US$ 1.4 billion.[citation needed] Kampung Baru's elders have turned developers away, saying they want to preserve their ethnic Malay lifestyle.
Colonial British administrators gazetted Kampung Baru as a Malay agricultural settlement in 1900 to allow the Malays to retain their village lifestyle within the city. Since then Kampung Baru has held out against development and modern-city living, turning into a political symbol of Malay culture.
The area held a special place for Malay politics during the pro-independence movement that grew up after World War II. Anti-colonial protests were held there, and founders of Malaysia's dominant political party, the United Malays National Organisation, held their early meetings there.[citation needed]
New evidence revealed by the National Archives of Malaysia shows that UMNO has its origins at the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kampung Baru. Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said the documents were unearthed recently when some work was being carried out at the club.[citation needed]
Kampung Baru, which sprawls over almost 4 km2, also played a part in the May 13 Incident in 1969, where bloody racial clashes occurred between ethnic Malays and Chinese. The riots started after Chinese-led opposition parties marched through the village to celebrate their good showing in general elections of that year. New research (May 13: Declassified Documents on the Malaysian Riots of 1969) based on newly declassified documents at the Public Records Office in London, the book alleged that contrary to the official account which had blamed the violence on opposition parties, the riot had been intentionally started by the ascendent state capitalist class in UMNO as a coup d'état to topple the Tunku from power.
In recent years, Kampung Baru also played a central role in the Reformasi protests of 1998, when former deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim launched protests against then premier Mahathir Mohamad, calling for reforms to government and the judiciary.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique said the local plan for Kampung Baru in Kuala Lumpur would be unveiled to the public in April 2008. The plan was to present in detail the Government of Malaysia's development agenda for Kampung Baru.
According to the minister, much thought had gone into drafting the plan with the government taking into account issues like the Malay image and land ownership. He also said the plan was drafted after many rounds of discussions with various parties. “A sum of RM100mil has been allocated under the Ninth Malaysia Plan for four to five projects requiring the government attention pertaining to land development and the improvement of infrastructures. Some of the money will be channelled to Kampung Baru for similar purposes,” Zulhasnan said.

Penang Butterworth ke Kuala Lumpur Naik Kereta Cepat ETS Platinum, Ada Musholanya! | Malaysia #1

KL to Cameron highlands by bus | Eating at Jalan Alor food street vlog
In today’s vlog we leave Kuala Lumpur to head towards the Cameron Highlands as we make our way north towards Penang, feeling mixed emotions. A little melancholy, a little grumpy, a little ill, but most of all excited for the next leg of the journey.
Jalan Alor was our favourite place to eat in Kuala Lumpur; affordable, tasty and atmospheric. We ate at a restaurant called Wong Ah Wah’s (I think I spelt that right) which does Malay and Chinese style street food. It’s really good, we recommend the satay sticks . Perfect way to spend our last night in KL.
The bus only cost around 35 RM (£7) and can be booked online (google it). The leg-room on the seats is huge and other than the winding roads it’s a very comfortable journey.
First impression of Cameron Highlands is it is COLD…ish… well colder than the rest of Malaysia at least. It’s also very scenic, which you’ll see for yourself in tomorrow’s vlog as we visit the tea plantations and the mossy forest.
After the Cameron Highlands we continue north through Malaysia, then onto Vietnam and who knows where else after that! We’ll be vlogging it all to share with you, so be sure to subscribe to join us on the journey.
Vlogs are uploaded three times a week. Tuesday, Fridays and Sundays (usually)! This can vary a little from time to time as we never know when we’ll have good enough WiFi to upload (backpacker life eh?) but we’ll try our best to be punctual!
Also, if you enjoyed this video, or if you didn’t, please leave a like and a comment to support us.
