Places to see in ( Royal Tunbridge Wells - UK )
Royal Tunbridge Wells is a large affluent town in western Kent, England, about 40 miles south-east of central London by road, 34.5 miles by rail. The town is close to the border of the county of East Sussex. Royal Tunbridge Wells is situated at the northern edge of the High Weald, the sandstone geology of which is exemplified by the rock formations at the Wellington Rocks and High Rocks.
The town of Royal Tunbridge Wells came into being as a spa in the Restoration and had its heyday as a tourist resort under Beau Nash when the Pantiles and its chalybeate spring attracted visitors who wished to take the waters. Though Royal Tunbridge Wells popularity waned with the advent of sea bathing, the town remains popular and derives some 30 percent of its income from the tourist industry.
Royal Tunbridge Wells is the administrative centre of Tunbridge Wells Borough and the UK parliamentary constituency of Tunbridge Wells. In the United Kingdom, Royal Tunbridge Wells has a reputation as being the archetypal conservative Middle England town, a stereotype that is typified by the fictional letter-writer Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells.
Tunbridge Wells is at the hub of a series of roads. Tunbridge Wells town historically had three railway stations: two of these are still in use by National Rail services. Tunbridge Wells station is, as its former name of Tunbridge Wells Central suggests, centrally located within the town at the end of the High Street, whilst High Brooms station is situated in High Brooms, to the north of the town. Both stations are located on the double-tracked electrified Hastings Line; services are operated by the Southeastern train operating company.

Drive through English Towns and Villages in Kent and East Sussex
Exploring Kent and East Sussex while on holiday in Kent. Click on the timings to the 'right' of each village or town in the list below to view the video at that point. Below is a comprehensive list of all the towns and villages we drove through during the week; most within a 10 miles radius of our holiday cottage in the village of Appledore, Kent, England.
In 2014 17% of the UK population were living in rural areas e.g. in small villages like the ones shown in this video.
The list names each village or town, states which County its in, its population (mostly derived from the 2011 Census), and its location on teh video in minutes and seconds (and towards the end, in hours too).
As a general rule (traditionally), one of the criteria in the UK for defining whether a settlement is a village or town is that a village has a church but no market; whereas a town has a 'town market'.

Brenchley, Kent: A village with no cycle racks
A village that keeps winning prizes Best Kept Village fails to win any prizes for cycle racks as these are nowhere to be found, even though it is the 21st century and proactive councils normally bend over backwards to do something for the environment.
Cyclists would certainly not give this village any prizes for that. Maybe they don't like cyclists.
Also heavy lorries & 4x4s speed through the village despite the bends and 30mph speed limit. Apparently it will get worse after the A21. When there is an accident along the A21, many lorries divert into the village. Sooner or later, these lorries will crash into the houses like they have done in Sevenoaks.
At night time, there are no street lights because 'it doesn't go with the village' apparently even though kids are about in the evening.
Clearly it is more important for a village to look pretty than to make sure the roads are safe for children, cyclists, tourists and other pedestrians.
The best bit was the friendly Butchers shop. It certainly made up for the difficulties of trying to get across the road safely (there isn't even a crossroads either!).
It could be a lovely village if it was made safer. Yes, it is pretty but it would be prettier if more people rode a bike. It would also be quieter if there were less lorries, It was very noisy in the High Street with all the racket from the cars racing by. The video is just a short interlude of quietness, there weren't many.
If i hear of any accidents here, I will mention them in the comments and if you hear of any, please do the same.
